The following is to set some guidelines for participation in the e-mail list, which is considered as Membership in Pagan_Outlook:
We all are here for a term which we call in an over all manner as Enlightenment. We all take the position of student and teacher in this respect, as we all have something to offer from are own life experiences. Through the sharing of these experiences, opinions and thoughts, and through all mediums of information.
Careful and close consideration of the over all subject matter dealt with here, should be paid attention to. As well as in what context something is being said. We have faith in the Members of this group to view material, and make their own judgements of what is being said, and not to spoon feed only "moderator approved" materials to everyone, sanitized to the point of no intrinsic value. You should have the ability to view something and make judgements of your own about it and from it, everyone should be afforded that opportunity.
The only time someone is put on a moderated status is when first signing up for the group, which is usually removed after their first post or two, and/or after repeated breaking of the only 2 real rules of either:
1) Spamming; By flooding the group with an inordinate amount of/or unrelated emails; By adding this group to another email list with no first party interaction by posing as a participating member; Using a membership ONLY as a way to solicit for and advertising of merchandise; Spamming off list, of list members, after being notified that the e-mails are unwanted.
2) Flaming; By making direct personal attacks against a group member's character; By making direct attacks on a group member's personal belief as it pertains to them individually; By obvious "name calling" meant to belittle another group member in a derogatory fashion; By Destructive criticism directed towards a member in a manner that has no constructive value; By use of personal or private information on list, as a way to harm, embarrass, and/or harass, another group member. (Note: Off list arguments between group members have largely been viewed as no concern of the Mod.s, or the list, and should remain off list.)
The above is written as a standard of practice, that has been thus far how our actions in dealing with such matters have been approached. We do our best to treat everyone here equally, with out bias, and help any of you in any way we can. It is important to note that there are 3 Mod.s, and you can reach all three of us at once by sending an email to [email protected] if there is ever any question or problem you would like us to address.
This group is a collective of individuals, we are all only voluntary members on an individual level, with no sponsorship by another person. If exposure to material that anyone may find offensive, corruptive, or in any other manner sensitive, is a severe problem for them to deal with on a mental and/or emotional level, then please re-consider your membership in this group. While this is often not the norm or standard for this group to pursue, it is impossible for anyone to know what another may take such great offense to that it could be damaging or harmful to their very psyche.
"Killing" post is not a practice we involve our selves in too often around here. Rational discussion is still the number one aim of this list and is what is always being strived for, to be preserved and maintained.
No Flaming will ever be a condoned or accepted practice. In terms of group members making personal attacks against each other. There is no necessary reason to publicly defame another individual on list. There is no need for a public display of this kind when this is a topical discussion list. The post are fair game. Stating things such as how you feel about what behavior is morally incorrect, or that matters could be done in a way that is more forth coming, that your individual thinking is valid from your own perspective of virtue are acceptable practices, as are debates of reason, facts, and points of view. A mix of philosophies and opinions is what is wanted and desired. Not a bunch of post where people call each other names and use personal information, provided in an intimate fashion to the people of this group, used back against them.
