Review – Amanda Easton

Music Video
Amanda Easton is one of my favourite music artists (rapidly
changing to the favourite) at the moment. She is the consummate entertainer,
honed over at least ten years as a professional, and all this can be seen on
the music video for her debut single “Celebrity”.
The video is set in railway-side Surry Hills, home of most fashion
houses in Australia. Amanda could be airing her own wishes or those of the
blonde star-to-be in the clip, both of whom are wandering/dancing around the
set/studio. While the wanna-be young model stands precariously at the beginning
of a big career (although you’d think the photographer has other ideas) Amanda is on the springboard to international fame and
fortune. Although she says she doesn’t want money or fame, just to buy things
and for people to know her name – it is more than inevitable that all of this
will come to her, and more!
Both the song Celebrity
and its video simply scream Video
Hits/Channel V/MTV/mainstream music television: it has the
dance-beat, it has the flashing lights and movement, (“You can show me in my
underwear”, she says, and it does!); all guaranteeing success with both those
who watch avidly and those who always seem to be waiting for something decent
that is not nouveau-R&B, boy/girl ‘band’ or Britneyesque You wouldn’t know that the song was written
two years ago – it’s as fresh and with-it as today, with all the hallmarks of a
pop classic.
Amanda Easton is tomorrow’s Pop Princess – the world is ahead of her and will surely be dancing to her beats in no time at all. How could you not dance to it?! The single and those songs that are available online herald the call for more! Doubtless, with the success Celebrity will bring, that isn’t too far away. «««««
