GAMES
Games

Bingo
Good for lower ability/anyone who needs number practice

21's
Players can count up to three places per turn. If they say one,
then the next number continues in the same direction as it was
passed on. (start clockwise) If two numbers are counted then
the direction changes. If three are counted then it continues in
the same direction but one player is skipped.
Each time the team gets to 21, a new rule is added
                       eg's
                              numbers 5, 10, 15 and 20 are all "6"
                              number 12 is "Dinosaur"
Players wink cheekily on odd numbers
Slowly things get mor complicated until no-one can follow!
(Usually there is a forefit for when it goes wrong - if you can
think of a suitable one, then go for it!)

Countdown
Variations of the numbers and letters games of the TV program
Usually it is wise to give more than thirty seconds.
Number methods must be described in English
                       Teams may be used

Give us a Clue
Split class into appropriate teams. Say a word and then
get one team to read out three definitions of this word. (only
one of which is correct) Other teams then have to guess the
                       correct meaning

Secret sentence
Teams. Each pupil is given a few strange sentences.
Throughout the course of a given activity (discussion or
game) they must try and say their secret sentence without
                       others noticing. Most sucesses wins.
(Be careful to choose things that you will notice being said
only lines you have heard will count)

Photographic Memory
This is a good excuse to show the pupils some photos of home
or at least some pictures of britain (it's a visual form of
                       chinese whispers)
Choose a team and an order. Each team member except number                           one stands a long way off/outside. Number one sees a photo
and a list of statements, which describe the photo. After a
minute or so the picture and the descriptions are taken away.
Next, number two comes in and number one describes the
picture to them using as many of the statements as they can.
Two describes to three, three to four, and so on.
The last person draws what the picture looks like, then you
work back towards the first person and show the group the
                       photo.

Shopping list (or equivalent)
sit around in a group and add a new item of some description
to a list with each new person - a list which the next person
then has to recite and add to.

Taboo/Pictionary
You can adapt them if you know them!
