Duke
of Worcester: "It's the boy. He has bewitched her
with words. Find her. Tell her that the show
will end my way and that she will come to me when
the curtain falls or I'll have the boy killed."

The
Duke
The
Duke comes from England with plenty of money
which leads him to the underworld of the Moulin
Rouge. But his wealth makes him a target for
Zidler who uses Satine to deceive The Duke
into funding the next show at the Moulin Rouge.
Satine makes The Duke believe she loves him
and he takes the bait. But when he finds out
that it was all a trick and that Satine loves
Christian he is outraged and has no regard
for Satine and demands that she gives herself
to him on opening night or Christian will
be killed. He also never trusts Zidler and
demands the deeds to the Moulin Rouge. After
Satine declares her love for Christian on
stage for all to see the duke leaves the Moulin
Rouge a hurt and bitter man turning the Moulin
Rouge into a wasted and empty shell of a building
that we see at the beginning of the film.
