in love and has been made to believe by Zidler
that she is only worth what men will pay for
her. One night Satine has to seduce a English
duke, hoping he will make his funds available
to Harold Zidler to finance the Moulin Rouge

going to be a real actress Marie. A great actress.
I'm going to fly away from here."

invites the man she things is the duke into her
room where Christian sings her a love song, and
Satine falls in love with Christian, who she still
thinks is a rich duke. She tells Christian she
can't fall in love because of who she is, but
Christian has a youthfulness for love and life
and says that a life without love,That's terrible.
But Satine says No, being on the street, that's
terrible. Christian then tells her that "Love
is like oxygen! Love is a many splendoured thing.
Love lifts us up where we belong. All you need
is love." Satine and Christian fall in love! |

that she is dying from consumption and that if
she doesn't turn Christian away the duke will
have him killed. |
"We
have to end it. Everybody knows. Harold knows. Sooner
or later the Duke will find out too. On opening night
I have to sleep with the Duke and the jealousy will
drive you mad."

trying to protect Christian she tells him that
she has decided to stay with the Duke and the
Moulin Rouge. Leaving a very hurt Christian she
goes back to the Moulin Rouge and on opening night

about, but at what price has she paid for this.
She has given up on a exquisite love. |
|
"If
I should die this very moment, I wouldn't fear. For
I've never known completeness like being here. Wrapped
in the warmth of you. Loving every breath of you.
Why live life from dream to dream and dread the day
"

Satine
discovers that the very upset Christian has come
to the Moulin Rouge to pay for her services as
his "whore". Satine still cannot tell
Christian how much she loves him because she sees
the dukes right hand man Warner with a gun ready
to kill Christian so again she must turn him away.
As he leaves the stage Satine begins to sing their
song "Come What May". Upon hearing this
Christian comes back to Satine and they both on
stage finish "Come What May" |
"Tell
our story Christian, that way we will always be together."
| When
the curtain's drop Satine turns to Christian with
adoring eyes, their love for each other so strong.
But her illness takes hold of Satine and she dies
in Christian's arms, telling him to write their
story! |
|
 |
It
is amazing how Satine discovers that love is far
more important than her desires to be an actress
or what money can buy. Its far better to be in
love and to be loved than to die having never
experienced a love as strong as hers and Christian's! |
