Oren Shani was born in 1977 in Tel Aviv, Israel. He started his musical education at the age of five in Neve Eliezer Conservatoire where he learnt the recorder and the organ. Six years later, at the age of 11, young Mr. Shani was introduced to the piano by Miss Jenny Keren, and it was , as he recalled it, "love at first site". For the next 7 years Mr. Shani gave his spirit, time and eternal energy in practicing and learning with Miss Keren, Miss Borisova & Mr. Alexander Kornhendler, thus graduating with excellency the Conservatoire.

At the age of 18 Oren Shani was admitted into a special program of the Israeli Army, in which a strictly limited number of highly gifted young musicians are given the opportunity to continue their instrumental training during the three years of military service. During these three years of service, Mr. Shani has made a remarkably unique recording of Bach's "Goldberg Variations" for the Iisraeli radio. After his military service, Mr. Shani has won some important prizes in Israel: The Rubin Academy, Frank Peleg & Magda Maires Competitions. Mr. Shani has participated in Tel Hai Master Classes in Israel with Prof. Hose Riberra in 1998. He also took part in Positano Master Classes of works by Beethoven (founded by Maestro W. Kempff) with tuition of John O'Connor in 2000. On October 2000 Mr. Shani has played in Maestro Alexis Weissenberg's Master Classes in Engelberg Switzerland, where he received special enthusiastic reactions & was critically acclaimed by both the Maestro and the audience, consequently winning a special prize during the course. Mr. Shani completed his artistic education by attending several masterclasses with pianists like Maurizio Pollini, Paul Badura-Skoda, Bruno Canino, Stephen Kovachevich and Dimitri Bashkirov.

Mr Shani performs regularly throughout Israel, Europe (Italy, Switzerland, France, Great Britain and Germany), U.S.A. and Canada. Mr. Shani also made some recordings for the Swiss radio (works by Schubert and Brahms).

In addition to being a pianist, Mr. Shani is also a successful poet. His poetry collection "Requiem After Intercourse With Life" was published in Gvanim ed. in 1999 and some of the poems were published in the finest poetry collection "Shirim Beor Male" ("Poems In A Full Light"). Mr. Shani was interviewed about his poetry on Television and Radio.

On July 2001 Mr. Shani played in Verbier Festival in Switzerland with a full scholarship in the class of Mr. Bashkirov & Mr. Kovachevich. On August 2001 he played in Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, in the Master Class of Leonard Hokanson.

Oren Shani studied for a Master Degree in piano performance with Prof. Emanuel Krasovsky at the Rubin Academy in Tel Aviv Univ., Israel. His research dealt the connection between the B Minor Sonata of Liszt and "Faust" of Goethe.
