BIGFOOT
SASQUATCH
Bigfoot is North America's most prominent ctyptozoological mystery, it goes all the way back to early North American Indian history. Bigfoot or Sasquacth (is Indian for hairy man) as it is known in Canada is a giant man like creature that is between 210cms (7ft.) to 270cms (9ft.) tall and weighs 280kgs to 440kgs. Bigfoot has been reported in the North West United States (Northern California, Oregon,Washington and Odaho) and the far western Canada (British Columbia and Alberta). This is a region of mountains and forests that is very vast and ideal for such a beast which could live undetected by all except afew startled witnesses.
John Green a Canadian Bigfoot investigator and writter, said they seem to prefer to be alone and rarly are seen in the company of others. Hair covers their bodies and the length of their limbs is more human like than ape like. Although, their brought shoulders, lack of a neck, flat face and nose, sloped forehead, pronounced eyebrow, ridges and cone shaped heads are more animal  like than human They eat both animal and plant, and mostly nocturnal (active at night) and are inactive in winter.

There are reports of a creature resemberling Bigfoot in early Indian ledgends of giant woodland bipeds (animals that walk on two legs). One of the closest creatures to bigfoot is Witiko (or Wendigo), known to the Algonkian Indians of the Northern forests. The Witiko were cannibalistic giants with supernatural powers, they could possess people and turn them into other Witikos.

The first report of Bigfoot by a white man apparently came in 1811 near what is the town of Jasper, Alberta Canada. A trader named David Thompson found some strange foot prints, fourteen inches long and eight inches wide with four toes in the snow.

In 1924 a lumberjack named Albert Ostman, had been prospecting near Tobet inlet when he was captured by a family of Bigfoots. The father and daughter guarded him while the mother and son prepared the food. The family of Bigfoots were vegetarian and ate roots, grass and spruce tips. After a week Ostman was able to escape. He did not tell his story to any one until 1957, fearing people would think he was crazy

Bigfoot became popular in the United States when bulldozer a operater named Jerry Crew found a giant footprints around were he was working in Humboldt County, California. Crew made a cast of the foot prints. A newspaper ran the story on Crew and his footprint with a photograph. Soon other newspapers ran the story throughout the the country. The picture of Crew holding the big "FOOT" that made the name stick. (Bigfoot).

In 1967 Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin, anounced that they had captured Bigfoot with a movie camera. The two men filmed a few seconds of an ape-like creature apparently a female, moving across a clearing near Bluff Creek in northern California The film is not perfect but there is no mistacking the creature for a common animal like a black bear. The film either a real Bigfoot or a very good hoax. The fillm even today has not been disproved. One scientist that viewed the film. John Napier, of the Smithsonian Institution, admitted, "I could'nt see a zipper, and I still cant".
Patterson died in 1972, swearing to the end the film was real. Gimlin, still alive also is sticking to the story. The first investigator on the site Bob Titmus found tracks in the locations that matched up with the Bigfoots routein the film. Titmus made casts of the foot prints and noticed that the prints also had gone up a hill side and sat down for awhile to watch Patterson and Gimlin, who had stoped their tracking efforts in order to recover their horses.

The Bigfoot is still beeing reported today but still no hard evidence except for the foot prints. No one has found a dead one yet As some people say they must go some were to die, Maybe they have there own way of dealing with death. They may even bury their dead. I think that they are non egressive there have been no reports of Bigfoot attacking people, they keep as far away from people as possible. So lets get a couple of photos and a bit of video of them and let them live in peace.
