| In december 1963 Barny began to have stomach troubles, and after consulting two different doctors, he was then sent to Dr. Benjamin Simon, a highly qualified neurosurgen. The doctor thought Barny's illness might be psychosmatic. The doctor eventually decided to use hypnosis on both the Hill's in his attempt to treat barny. Under hypnosis Barny told of what happened that night in 1961 after they heard the first set of beeps. For some stange reason Barny turned down a dirt road and drove up to a road block, were the car's engine stalled. Suddenly several men surounded the car who guided the Hills through a wooded area to a craft, which was sitting on the ground. Betty Hill described the beings as having a Mongoloid appearance, with broad flat faces, large slanting eyes, and very large noses. Barny added to the discription, saying that the "leader" had very large, almond shaped eyes that seemed to wrap around the side of his head. The mouth was a slit with a vertical line on each side. Betty said the skin of the beings was a bluish-grey colour. Barny kept his eyes closed most of the time while he was on the craft, some researcher think this is why his story was never as rich in detail as told by his wife. He did mention that when he was put on the examanation table that it was too short for him. Betty descibed in much greater detail, saying that unusual instruments touched her body in various places, samples of skin and fingernails were taken, and hair pulled out of her head. A long needle was pushed in to her navel. She screemed at the "examiner" and the "leader" passed a hand over her eyes, stopping the pain and calming her down. Betty communicated to the "leader," though there was no real indication that they spoke out loud. She thought they used some kind of telepathy for communication. Betty also had the impression that the "leader" was keeping the rest of the crew away from her. She was also told that Barny was was being well cared for and not to worry. Betty asked were they came from, the "leader" showed her a star map but rather than descibe it to her, he asked her were the sun was. When Betty failed to identify it, he told her that the map would do her no good. After the discusion, Betty was escorted from the craft and joined Barny in the car. There was the second set of beeps, and they "awakened" traveling down the road, nearing Concord. The hypnotherapy last several month. When it was over Dr. Simon said that the Hills were recounting a fantasy. He believed that Betty origanated the tale in her dreams that followed the event, then shared it with Barny by telling him over a period of weeks, of her dreams and as he listened to Betty describe the events of various UFO investigations, Dr. Simon believes that is why Barny's account was less detailed than Betty's. There is one more important fact. The letter that Betty send to Don Keyhoe detailed much of the story. Later investigators reported that Barny sat in as Betty discussed the case with them. It is true that Barny and betty did not discuss the case between themselves. Barny was there as Betty was talking about the sighting. He did have the opportunity to learn the details from her.
