Overall
Being a former hard core audiophile, I knew the kind of sound I wanted in my rig. I listen to all kinds of music from the classical
I also had some specific size constraints to consider for the amp and CD changer since I didn't want to loose too much cargo space.
AMPLIFIER
After looking at over 50 different amps, I found one that fit the bill just right. It's the Sony (XM-5042) 4 channel amp (50w/channel) with an additional subwoofer output (100w).
SPEAKERS
For speakers, I found Boston Acoustics had the cleanest sound. I put Rally components up front (RC-51's) and a pair of their 6 1/2" coax's (RX-67's) for the rear.
For that additional bass punch, I went with a JL Audio ProWedge subwoofer (CS110T-W1) for a clean tight thump.
HEAD UNIT & CD CHANGER
For the deck, I wanted both a tape player, CD Changer, and a Remote Control. I found what I needed in a Clarion head unit and 12 disk changer. The remote is a 1.5"x3"x1/8" unit.
UPDATE: 1.5 YEARS LATER...
Well, after more than 2 years of use, I am quite happy overall with the installation, function, & performance of this system.
My changer rarely skips even when off road. After watching my remote become an airborne projectile I put Velcro on the back so that it sticks to my headliner.
The Speakers sound AWESOME!! Super Clean and loud enough to hurt myself.. The highs from the Boston's are crisp, just the way I like them. The low end punch from the JL is solid and clean.
