Defining The Problem


Postpartum depression is a mood disorder that occurs usually within six weeks of delivery but can last up to one year. It is a illness that is expressed through a varity of physical and emotional changes.
There are three types of postpartum depression:

  • baby blues
  • postpartum depression
  • postpartum psychosis
According to Pacific Post Partum Support Society, an estimated 1 out of 6 women experiences post partum depression.
