Christopher Atzinger
Winner of Mildred B. Frame Memorial Award $4000 May 2002
Christopher George Atzinger was the winner of the National Society
of Arts and Letters, Washington Chapter 2002 piano competition.
Christopher will perform at Carnegie Hall in December 2002 and at
Monticello in Spring 2003. Both concerts sponsored by La Gesse Foundation.
Having won the Citta di Ispica prize at the IBLA Grand Prize Competition
in Raguse-lbla, Italy, Christopher will perform in New York City, Boston,
Little Rock and Japan in March 2003. He made his orchestral debut
in 1994 with the Jackson Symphony Orchestra (MI). He has performed with
the Shreveport Symphony and both the University of Texas and University
of Michigan Orchestras. Christopher was recently heard in a live radio broadcast
on WFMT-FM Chicago and had his Washington debut recital at the Phillips Collection
in April 2002. The summer of 2002 he gave his European debut in Toulouse,
France under the sponsorship of the La Gesse Foundation.
Christopher was the Gold Medal winner of the 50th
annual Nino Wideman International Piano Competition, received second prize
at the 2000 Music Teacher's National Association - Steinway Collegiate Competition
and was the winner of the Sydney Wright Memorial Accompaniment Competition,
earning him an Endowed Presidential Scholarship.
Christopher received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University
of Texas at Austin and a Master of Music degree from the University of Michigan.
Christopher is in his second year of doctoral studies at the Peabody Conservatory
of Music at Johns Hopkins University where he is studying with Julian Martin.
