Your Glory vs My Glory... Transform Me, Lord
Date: June 11, 2005

Lord, I have a big problem that I can’t seem to get rid of myself. I need You to deliver me from wanting to be “recognized” for any musical/worship leadership ability I may have – which, I have to admit, is different than any ability You have granted me, because even if it was from You, I take it for myself when I want to be recognized). Maybe it goes back to my childhood and youth when my music teacher and my youth group both put down any musical ability I might have (or in their viewpoint, did not have). But whatever it comes from, it is wrong, wrong to hang onto the hurt and wrong to be prideful of any “improvement” or “personal ability.” Please, dear God, forgive me, heal me, deliver me. Thank You, Lord.

Lord, You know I made up that plan for a “Summer fUnschool.” But Lord, I don’t feel good about it. Honestly, it is too easy. It is something “I” can do. It is something I would probably enjoy. I might get tired from it, and I’m a bit worried about liability isues and so on, but I could carry on. And Wendy could help.

But Lord, that is not the “more.” I want to do for You! It is too easy, too small. Oh God, I want more. I want greatness – for Your glory. I think that has been a hold-up in Your plans for me. Lord, I do have trouble with my glory vs. Your glory. Oh God, You’d have to supernaturally help me with that too. But of course, “nothing is too difficult for Thee, great and mighty God.”

Lord, I have thought maybe I have a “gift of administration.” But could it be that administration is for me not a gift at all, but perhaps even a curse, in that it seems to be in me a precipice leading to pride, self-confidence, self-responsibility, self-centeredness…

Dear Heavenly Father, I want transformation of my life. Thank You for already transforming my spirit, Lord, through the shed blood of Jesus. And thank You for the things You have taken me through, including this past weekend seminar. Thank You for working to bring my mind and soul into line with the transformation You have wrought in my spirit – the real me, the me that You have prepared to come into Your presence, into relationship with You. Thank You for making me into a “dead man walking.” Oh, dear God, I do want to become an “extreme God-chaser.” I do want to not only witness, but to experience You personally, in an ongoing manner for the rest of my life, until I see You face to face; not only Your anointing, but Your manifest presence. I want to see and experience Your glory, Lord. I want to bring the world to You, Lord – for Your glory! I want to see Your kingdom come!

Mighty Warrior! Oh, Use Me, Too, Lord!
Date: June 12, 2005

This afternoon I was looking through my journals for information about something that happened awhile back – and I started reading amazing things You told me. I am seriously thinking I need to go back through my journals and use those writings for articles. And I want to spend quality time with You every morning. I have realized that I must quit my paper-routes to be able to give the early mornings to time with You, my Lord.

At the end of the altar call time this morning at the church, ______ came up to me and said two words: “Mighty Warrior.” Tears came down my cheeks. I felt a releasing from God, an assurance that He has heard my prayers and that He is going to use me for His purposes in great ways.

Where is that in Scripture? Oh! Gideon! Judges 6:12 “The LORD is with you, O valiant warrior” (NASB) (KJV “mighty man of valour”; NIV “mighty warrior.”) And that was when Gideon felt that God had abandoned Israel, and that he himself was “the least” in Israel. And he was so afraid that when he obeyed the LORD, to cut down down the Asherah and the Baal altar, he did it at night so he wouldn’t get caught. And yet God called him, “mighty warrior” because God had big plans for him. God knew exactly what He was going to do through weak, fearful little Gideon. And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him and he led 300 men of Israel against the armies of the Midianites and the Amalekites, and the sword of the Lord wrought a great victory for the 300 men armed only with trumpets and pitchers! Oh God, what are You telling me? This is so awesome! Use me, Lord, any way You want. Through me, by Your Spirit, Lord. Amen.

Lord, I Give You My All
Date: June 15, 2005

Dear Lord, I do give You my all. Please keep revealing to me any thing I am holding back and help me let go. Lord God, old habits die hard, and it is so, so easy to start re-grasping onto things without even thinking of it. Please transform and renew my mind. Thank You for Your Spirit in me, thank You that the blood of Jesus has given me a new spirit, holy and perfect before You. Now, Lord, please bring my body and mind – my flesh – into line with the reality of the total transformation, the new birth, You have wrought in the “real me.” Make me really, constantly aware of how my thoughts, words, and actions line up with Your will and with the new spirit You have placed within me. Minister to my spirit through the infilling of Your spirit, that I may grow and be sanctified in all my being, and go into all the world and preach the gospel, with all my being, in all my words, thoughts, actions, that the world would see Jesus only every time they look my way. Chirst in me, the hope of salvation! And Lord, keep me from evil, lead me not into temptation, but deliver me from evil. Empower me by Your Spirit, dear Lord. Thank You! Amen.

Answered Prayer: Praying His Heart and Mind
Date: June 16, 2005

I was just praying from scripture, and I found I kept “suggesting” to the Lord ways He might work out those principles. And then I realized that while He is interested in us sharing our thoughts and ideas, and that He cares about us and wants to give us the desires of our hearts, what is really important to be praying those Godly principles (as in The Lord’s prayer, the teachings of Jesus, etc) throughout scripture. We are to have the mind of Christ, and be filled and led by the Holy Spirit of God, and love and trust and obey the Father as His little children. Our desires are to become so molded to the will and purposes of God, and so focused upon loving and glorifying Him, that His desires become our desires, and thus we become one with Him. Then our every prayer will be answered, for we will surely be praying aright. We will be praying what is in the heart and mind of the Lord, and those things will be fulfilled and God’s kingdom will come, His will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Then we will truly know Him and truly and perfectly be worshiping Him and glorifying Him.

What a wonderful day that will be, Lord. We will see You as You are. We will see the world as You see it, and our eyes and hearts will be focused on the building of Your eternal kingdom and the eternal salvation of all who would come to You, all You have called and chosen and have known would come, from the foundation of the earth!

It also seems to me that, yes, we need to know and pray God’s principles so that our prayers will be according to His will. But at the same time He wants us to daily come before Him with our distinct petitions. And He wants us to do that from the start, like little children, just coming to Daddy to ask for things. Some of those things, of course, aren’t good for the children, or aren’t suitable, or don’t fit in with Daddy’s knowledge of the whole family’s needs, so he has to say “no” or perhaps “wait” or “partly yes, but partly something else.” And that’s another way we learn from Him His purposes, His will, His love and goodness, a really important way to learn obedience and trust and really come to know Him. We must come with a teachable spirit, longing not only for the “desires of our hearts” but to come to have our desires be lined up with our Father’s heart.

It’s raining again. I’m tired, my insides are upset. But I’m peaceful. It is so wonderful and joyful to know that the great God and Creator of the universe is totally in control and is aware and cares about every tiny detail of His creation! What love! “Amazing love, how can it be, that Thou, my God, shouldst die for me!”

Oh dear God, Your will be done in our church, among all Your people here, and in all the world. Your will be done in my family. Thank You, Lord, for Your promise that all my children will follow You. I love You, Lord! Amen! Thank You that You are answering my prayer, You are granting my request. Praise Your holy name! Amen!

Thunder, lightening, rain outside. Inside, peace, Lord! Thank You!
