Hi Guys,  As I write this the new Mega G’s and clear window SRT’s should be landing on the docks on the west coast.  The shipment will have to clear customs, get sent to the distributors and then to me so it will still be 2-3 weeks before these cars show up.  Demand for these is already pretty high and I expect my first shipment to sell out as soon as it hits the store.  A second order could follow soon thereafter or might be a while until more shipments hit our shores.  For this reason I am offering you the opportunity to preorder these now:

What’s the Mega-G? It’s a brand new, from the ground up, car designed by Racemasters for the AFX product line. The best feature of the new chassis is it’s low-profile, narrow design. This will allow for a larger variety of today’s popular race bodies to fit the car much better leading to more realistic looking H.O. slot cars. This is an important point to consider since it will likely translate to increased interest in our hobby/sport.

The performance of the Mega-G is an improvement on the Super G-Plus and SRT cars which makes it’s the fastest, best handling car, in stock form, released yet by AFX. The car features a 30% lighter chassis. Mechanically, it features polymer motor magnets, Neo traction magnets, and conventional inline motor. Because of the reduced chassis size, the car is fairly flexible which also helps with it’s handling in stock form. This is definitely a great car to drive on a home-size track, especially when combined with the new Tomy AFX Tri-Power Pack (see below).

Also new:

Along with the new Mega-G formula cars, Tomy is also releasing four new bodies in their Collector line of SRT cars. The four bodies on these cars will be unique in that they started life out clear. The clear body is then painted, using the usual process, but the windshields remain clear. This allows some visual interior detail which is handled by installing a printed paper which mimics the real detail in the real car (i.e. seats, spare tires, carburetors, etc.) With the clear windshields being a part of the body, there’s no need for a separate, bulky, glued in part. It does make quite a visual difference.
There are four new releases of ‘clear’cars.  First off, there’s two new versions based on their very popular Ford GT40 body. AFX part #9074 is a replica of the #6 GT40 that Mario Andretti and Lucien Bianchi ran at LeMans in 1966. This was one of the Ford team cars entered by the American Holman-Moody team more commonly known for their NASCAR expertise. The other GT40 (part #9075) is the yellow #8 car driven by John Whitmore (he would become “Sir” John Whitmore much later) and Frank Gardner. This was an English-based Ford team run by Alan Mann that also ran at LeMans in 1966.

In addition to the GT40’s, there’s also a new Cobra Daytona Coupe (part #9072) and a new Chaparral 2D (#9077). The #13 Cobra Daytona Coupe competed in the 1965 World Endurance Championship and was driven by Jo Schlesser and Hal Keck. It was later driven by Dan Gurney and, because of car #13’s slightly higher roofline (a mistake during the car’s construction), Gurney preferred driving this Daytona Coupe over any of the others. To go with these three new releases, there’s a brand new #9 Chaparral 2D which, of course, was entered and campaigned by Jim Hall during the 1966 World Endurance Championship. This particular car is a replica of the 2D driven by American Phil Hill and Jo Bonnier to a win at the 1966 Nurburgring round of the World Championship.

NEW TOMY AFX TRI-POWER PACK – Pre-order Today!. Ever since Aurora stopped production of their two-screw transformer power packs decades ago, all AFX sets have been down on power. The most common complaint is that one car will speed up when the other car comes off. While the voltage rating was high, the problem was always a lack of amperage. That’s all been taken care of with their new Tri-Power Pack. Of even more importance, there’s now three different voltages you can set the power pack to including 22 volts, 12 volts, and 8 volts. At all three voltages, there’s a full 1-amp on hand, just like the original Aurora two-screw transformers. With a standard Tomy terminal track plug attached to it, H.O. enthusiasts will now be able to switch between running magnet cars on 22-volts and BSRT’s very popular G-Jet™ on 12-volts, or simply drop the power for less experienced racers, it’s as simple as flipping a switch. The Tri-Power Pack is part #8822P and I’m taking pre-orders right now for $35.95 less 10% until December 7, 2008
