Height: 6 foot 2 Weight: 240 pounds From: Columbus, Ohio Career Highlights: WWE Tag Team Champion To say that Doug Basham is making the most of his opportunity in WWE would render you the king of the understatement. After years of struggle on the independent circuit, Basham finally has a chance to enjoy the WWE spotlight and he is relishing every minute of it. Basham earned distinction as one of the best athletes and mat technicians to ever compete for Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), but despite his success for OVW, the call up to WWE did not come. As days stretched to weeks and weeks to months, Basham could have grown frustrated or angry, but he instead used his desire to fuel a stronger work ethic. After serving as the longest tenured OVW veteran without a call up, Basham finally got his shot in 2002 and made the most of it. A classic encounter with Chris Benoit in September was followed up by a television debut on Velocity. While impressive, Basham was sent back to OVW after a small taste of his dream. Basham continued to pursue his dream and after an unforgettable match in April 2003 with Nick Dinsmore, Basham finally earned his spot on SmackDown! as he was signed by GM Stephanie McMahon along with brother Danny to become one of the best young tag teams in WWE. The Basham Brothers, along with dominatrix/trainer Shaniqua have yet to sit atop the tag team mountain but are taking dramatic strides to challenge for tag team gold. |
