In the storied history that is Stone Cold Steve Austin, there is very little
The Rattlesnake has yet to do. Not only has he held nearly every title a WWE
competitor could hold, but Austin has also done so with a style that has
made him perhaps the greatest WWE Superstar to ever enter the ring. Although
he retired as an active wrestler after WrestleMania XIX, Austin
reinvented himself as the Co-General Manager of RAW and his popularity
remained the same throughout his stretch in that position.
Austin’s claims to fame are many, but he will perhaps be most remembered for
his rivalry with WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon that began in 1998 never truly
ended. The rivalry led to Austin occupying many unique roles outside the
ring, including a stint as WWE CEO, and his most recent administrative role
as the Co-GM of RAW. In fact, it was Mr. McMahon who spoke out against
Austin's return during a meeting with the WWE Board of Directors to decide
on Austin's reinstatement -- yet another battle against Mr. McMahon that
Austin won.
While a neck injury may have forced Austin to stop competing in the ring
after WrestleMania XIX, he continues to be one of the most popular faces on
RAW every week. As Co-GM, Austin was the thorn in the side of many on a
weekly basis and he seemed to always find a way to make the fans roar. His
popularity stayed at such heights that when he lost his position as RAW
Co-GM at Survivor Series 2003, more than one million fans signed a petition
to bring him back to RAW -- a petition that ultimately led to his
reinstatement on his terms.
Stone Cold Steve Austin is and will continue to be a trash-talking,
beer-swilling, finger-gesturing, ass-kicking son of a bitch … and he, and
the millions of WWE fans around the world would not have it any other way!
