Resident Evil 0
The Evil Starts...
The Resident Evil Series started off back in 1996. Resident Evil debuted on the Playstation. The game spawned two sequels for the console. Each one growing with more Zombies then the last. During that time, a whole Resident Evil was canned. Resident Evil 1.5. The game was going to be Resident Evil 2, but when the game was 85% complete, Shinji Mikami (The creator of Resident Evil), canceled the game due to the fact it didn't feel right. Well the series progressed on with another sequel on the Dreamcast, which was later ported to the Playstation 2. At this time, Resident Evil 0 was shown on the N64. The game was a prequel for the first in the series. Eventually the game was moved to the GameCube. Capcom remade Resident Evil for the GameCube. The game was a fantastic step forward. Now, only a few months away, Capcom will release Resident Evil 0 on the GameCube!
Zero starts the series from the beginning. The ending of Resident Evil 0 is the beginning of Resident Evil. This is the reason why Capcom remade Resident Evil for GameCube. They will not however, remake the other Resident Evils. Why? Because they don't interlock like the first two. One other reason would be that in the remake of RE, Capcom added new elements that weren't in the original. One being Rebecca Chambers (She is playable in the remake, but only for Chris and for a brief moment.). If any of you have played Resident Evil on the Playstation and the GameCube, you know that Albert Wesker works for Umbrella. Well it turns out in the Playstation version, that the tyrant kills Wesker. Later on in RE: Code Veronica, Wesker appears again working for another company. Well in the GameCube version, they correct it. You see Wesker get stab by the Tyrant. You don't know if he lives, but Capcom has said that he did die in the first game, but he will live this time around. Back to Zero. Zero starts up when Bravo team's chopper goes down. Before the chopper goes down, Bravo team makes a few discoveries. They spot a burning wreck of a car like a truck and a train stopped in the middle of the forest. The team then splits up and Rebecca enters the train. One of RE Zero's producers, Hiroyuki Kobayashi, says the whole game doesn't just revolve around the train. That leaves me thinking! Rebecca will then meet up will Billy Coen. Billy is an Ex-Marine and an escaped convict. What makes Resident Evil Scary, is that both characters are playable!
How can that be? Two Character, together? Well RE Zero offers what Capcom calls, the Zapper System. What is it? How do you use it? The Zapper system that will allow you to change characters almost all the time. Here is an example. You enter a room in the game with Rebecca. You come to a locked door. If you hit the X button, you can zap to Billy who is in a room with the key. You can then take Billy over to a dumbwaiter and place the key in. Press the button to send it to Rebecca's room below. Hit X again to switch back and then goes over to the key and pick it up and use it on the door. You can also have the other character follow you into a room with the C Stick. When you enter the room Zombie's are everywhere. You can got to the menu screen and select one of the characters to be computer controlled. You can fight some Zombie's, while your partner works along your side. Let's say one of your characters has run out of bullets. Travel to the menu screen and you can give your partner some bullets. You can also have one character exploring (You) and the other waiting in a room. If you leave them in there with Zombie's, they could eat the player alive. Capcom is saying you'll be able to switch back in forth about 70% to 80% of the game.
You have to admit, the Resident Evil Remake had the best Graphic's in any Resident Evil. Well, if you think those look awesome, get a load of RE 0 (Zero)! Amazingly the Graphics are better! There are more and better background animations (The walls in the background.). The curtains on the train flutter around, a slight rocking of glasses in the kitchen car. The characters look a tad better with a few new one. One being a mysterious character who has long hair, a rob tied in the waist with some rope. He's the guy on the far left on the main logo. Capcom is saying he is very important to the overall game. We don't know who is it, but we will sure as heck find out!
For some of you who were turned off by RE's remake, you'll defiantly dig this one. Capcom has taken out the Defense Weapons. So you can't take out a flash grenade and shove it into a Zombie's mouth and watch his head explode. The other thing that has been removed is the Crimson Head Zombies (You could kill a Zombie, but when you come back, he will be back and he's faster. If you burned him or blew off his head, he wouldn't return. These are the Zombies that made me stop playing RE for a few weeks before I picked up the game again and beat it!). The greatest Add-on to the game, is the ability to drop any item, anywhere! So you can drop it and get it if you need it.
Resident Evil 0 (Zero) is looking to be one of the best Resident Evil's of all time! To think, Capcom is saying Resident Evil 4 will blow away any Resident Evil! Too bad that is basically all that has been heard. Nothing has been seen either. I guess we will have to wait till E3 2003 for RE4. I hope. So if you're looking for Evil, you've found it! Get Evil this November!
