March Already !?! : Blog 2003

March 29, 2003

am currently working on version 3.0 of my website. I am in the thinking stages of this new flash format using Swish! 2.0 to edit my webpage. Because Flash is a compressed format already, all my images will be compressed within the program so you'll load the webpage all at once. I am going to try to make a generic logo for 3.0. This will take the most time because I have to get the background and foreground to work together. It won't happen for another month or so. It's going to look advanced for year 2003 and going to look great! Like it or not everyone, the web is going to transform into the standard viewing Flash format.

ell today is one of those days where you feel like not making use of anything. After some deep thought I went forward and asked if I could have a Playstation 2 if I do good in school. There is no doubt that PS2 is the best system out there. I wonder what my first game will be? I thought of getting Jak and Dexter from Naughty Dog Entertainment. I am also interested in Grandia Xtreme and Final Fantasy X. I don't know how I am going to afford to support all three platforms, PC, GCN and PS2 all at the same time. The obvious answer should be to not buy the system and buy a new graphics card for my computer, but that's no fun. Maybe I'll change my mind when schools out.

I came across something great. When I downloaded the latest Nemu Nintendo 64 emulator, I've found out that the program now  has Netplay.  Netplay is a system were you can play roms like Mario Kart 64, Goldeneye or Star Fox over the web for free. It's not just that, but there are other emulators that allows you to play NES online. Remember Super Mario Bros. on the NES, now you can play that online.

I dread the fact that I saved over my previous game in Final Fantasy 8, the game I'm playing right now. I in the part in the beginning when Squall goes the the green house area and fights mutant plants. Then Squall comes to a save were he then takes on a TREX alone. He isn't suppose to do that ... is he. In times like this, I seriously wish I had a Dex Drive so I can find saved games off the Internet. I have done so with the dreamcast, and I miss the ability to play hacked psx saves off the Internet. That may be exactly how you split the men from the boys, but if there is a will, there is a way. That's how I think now-a-days when I play games. O-yeah I updated my Gamecube Reviews and added Legend of Zelda to it. I am really excited because it's like the best gamecube game and it came out a day ago. This is really going to be my highlight of the whole week. I could even ask for a dex drive if Gamestop has any left. Which is particularly good news. I also wrote on Final Fantasy VIII on PSone Reviews found in the editorials section of my site.

pring Break is a pond us. What do you know, the United States has gone to war? So far tactical forces in Kuiate went silently for the whole day until this pass night, when they started firing on someone. Someone left the lights on in Baghdad. Hmm. It'll this make our job easier.Meanwhile a Rebublican Guard Bergade is crossing the desert from Kiuate City to the North rim of Iraq. Haven't heard much else then it's been successful attempt and the enemy is surrendering at first contact. I am interested in what air fleet will go over Iraq? Will it be the F16 Fighting FAlcons or stealth fighters?

Yesterday the school coordinator, Dr. Motaz, found me a job replacement at the University running computers Local Area Networks. I guess it's a promotion because I get As and Bs in school. I am suppose to help people work on Dreamweaver, MS Word, Powerpoint and Adobe Photoshop. Now to explain what glorious things happened this week, I bought Xenogears for PSone at a videogame store in River Falls, Wisconsin. I soon hope to write a review soon.  Don't know when I'll get around to playing it though. Hopefully this week. That store was an excellent place to get playstation games. Used games were running 30 to 50 dollars, but they had a few titles like Lunar 2 and Final Fantasy VII that I couldn't find at Funcoland. I also bought Final Fantasy 8 and 9 from Funcoland days before this. I like Final Fantasy because Squaresoft makes good games. I never got to play Squaresoft games. I am not a hardcore RPG fan, myself, but that goes to show you that I'll go out of my way to buy a good game. Only 8 days until I get pick up my copy of Legend of Zelda - The Wind Waker, which is currently being sold out in every store, immensely popular game, since Link is liked by many. Some are diehard fans of the original Legend of Zelda for the NES and say that the franchise has lost it's value. I don't think that way, but I didn't grow up with NES. I was three when NES came out in the United States.

The only computer game I really am getting into is NeverWinter Nights. So far, I am a dumb barbarian who can't talk right, although he's not the first to die in combat. I also tried out a half-elf barbarian and she dies quickly in the game. No luck.  She didn't do well against The Docks in Chapter 1. I haven't even got into Chapter 2 in this game. There are a total 10 chapters. One aspect I like about the game is the dialog sequences. People have a lot to say. Most of the time being nice works. It is expected from you in most events. Not all magical items are good weapons.  I like the slashing aspect of Neverwinter. Characters don't level up as fast as they would in other RPGs I've played (Grandia II, Diablo 2, Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy III) It's not a bad thing. With this week off, I'll be able to go over to my friends house and hopefully beable to download games. I haven't worked on my "Unofficial Dungeon Siege & NeverWinter website" or "Fury Red".

oday, I uploaded the rewriten Linux 8.0 report and added a new navagation bar on top of some important pages. I've added the history of Unix. It's been cleaned up a bit through my rough draft. I realize that my report is amuater compaired to articles on the web by real porgrammers. There isn't spam in my report, honest! Anyone should read my article. It is very helpful for someone who wants to be informed about LInux the first time running in on their computer.  Readers get a clean white background. The report talks about the programmers evolution on Unix, how GNU was created. I've been trying to add something good about Linus, creator of the first Linux. The report is 8 pages long. That is one hell of a long report.

I found a Dink SmallWood Trainer at this location. Now I can hack Dink and play the game as it was meant to be played. I mean I was looking all over for this trainer.

I don't like CodeMasters Tetris anymore. The Midi is just annoying as can be! I repeat, "Do not download Codemasters." This game didn't live up to my expectations. Dink SmallWood did. As you can see, the game is outdated in the graphics area, and what remands is it's gameplay aspect. I can only say that the gameplay aspect is pretty good. I can't get pass the soldiers guarding the castle, I'm working on beating them now. Because I am very achiest of what the Internet has to offer in terms of downloadable role playing games, I recently downloaded this new game called Laxis Power : Random Story. Apparently, it was for Sega Genesis a while back. If anyone hear likes 16-bit console RPGs, you should look into this game. I am surprised that the weapon system is as simple as it is. Laxis Power seems very appealing for beginners. That's me! If your running the game higher then 800/600 you'll see stretched graphics. Its not bad.

I went into Gamestop today to preorder Legend of Zelda - The Wind Waker. That game is suppoe to be sold out the time it arrives. I was too late for the bonus disc. I am getting very excited to play the game. I suppose I was overly hyped about Zelda 64 on Gamecube. Good thing I reserved my copy. So everythings good there.

I also decided to make a webpage full of reviews on just the games Dungeon Siege and Neverwinter Nights. I spent the whole day making a decent site. So far it has a white background. But the loading times should be fine on this page. If FortuneCity terminates my page, I'll move it to either Pressenter.com or back to Geocities.com.

Dreamcast Game Collection is now Online

ll this time I sat in front of the computer looking at some pages that people made on games. I was playing Dink Smallwood today. Dink is a farmboy who goes out and saves the kingdom from evil henchmen. Before he must keep the peace of his fellow peasants. Although I question his smarts, this is a true comedy / hack & slash / monty python rip off. Actually, I don't know what it is. I am not very good at playing it. It looks a hell-a-lot better then most freeware platfomrers out today. If you come to my site often, then I recommend it to you.

I hooked up the dreamcast, and played a little Skies of Arcadia at midnight 'till six in the morning. It was suppose to be my favorite RPG ever, but I know how it is, you play the game once, and then you get sick of games, even your favorite game doesn't have momentum anymore. I am bore with all my Playstation games.

Oh, I am really scraping change around my place to get Legend of Zelda - The Wind Waker on my gamecube before the end of March. It's the first game where Princess Zelda isn't making a personal appearance! I have 25 dollars and I need 50 to complete money matching. I decided not to put music on my website. I'm a little surprised, I thought many gamers would be using the html 6.0 by now, like me.

I also went over to MegaGames.com to find some cool games to play. I getting sick of playing Super Mario Sunshine. I have 62 shines saved on memory card. I found a new tetris game with 40 sound tracks called CubeMaster. I love tetris. I can't play tetris in school. I use to play a game called Acid Tetris a lot of times. It was buggy in WinXP so I had to find something else. I found two games that suited well. Netris 3, and Kraggz 3. Signing Off ....

went online and found out some information about the next generation consoles Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft are attempting to make:

Nintendo's Next Generation Console

So far we know that Nintendo teamed up with NEC for a new leading graphics card. Nintendo divorces IBM. Nintendo also chose ATI to make their videocard. ATI and a newly formed high density memory distributor called "Matrix Ltd" will make a design for Nintendo's new high density chipset. Nintendo will probably go Cube sized and prove pond the exciting design of the Gamecube. Sound Company, Factor 5, will probably stick in a Dolby Digital Pro Logic 3 (predecessor of DDPL 2 in Gamecube) Nintendo is aiming to enter the videogame market with a lot of quality titles for 2006. Hopefully with more 3rd party support. Squaresoft will be developing Final Fantasy Chronicles for Gamecube once more. Be excited for new a new Mario platformer, new Metroid Prime and a new Resident Evil exclusively for the console. Knowing Nintendo, they'll keep all development secret till the last minute. Right now Nintendo has the least powerful marketing campaign. Because of it, Gamecube has fallen in 3rd place next to Xbox and Playstation 2.

Playstation 3

IBM strikes deals with Sony! Sony's new console will most possibly have the same components as the Playstation 2. IBM will create duel processors running at 4.5 Ghz each with 128 K of memory. Equivelent of what Xbox is running (2x). The operating system will be a improvement over PS2s agriculture. Developer statist will be smaller, but will include more 3rd party games for all consoles.

Xbox 2 (XBOX Ver. 3)

Rumored to be in faster then 5.0 GHzs. Nothing out today has that graphic power. The new Xbox hybrid will be made with even more powerful Pentium technology for muscle, and Geforce technology for graphics. Xbox will get some of the all platform games with it's first party sport franchises. There will certainly be a Halo 3 in development. With Xbox most recently passing Nintendo up in sales, it can be said,  "It's been one small step for gaming, one giant leap for Microsoft."

Phantom, the mystery console of 2003

Suppose to be released at the end of this year with a 400 dollar price tag. This console is suppose to include a 1 Ghz processor. Infinium Labs is making this hugely expensive console on time and on budget. The console is suppose to have decent advertising campaigns. In my opinion, Phantom is already a dud. My reasons are it's too late to enter the console race now

still remember the Dreamcast. It wasn't launched that long ago. Well people are seriously trying to emulate every Game known to man to develop the game for Dreamcast. How does it work. Well instead of Downloading EXE files. The game download Burn images. Although they are larger then EXE files they have the complete data information to work on Dreamcast. Some games that I found were Tetris, Doom for Dreamcast, mostly puzzel games that are suppose to work on cd. Some fully fuctional unities are MP3 players to read off MP3s off cds. Dreamcast emulation Webpage. (popular Dreamcast versions of console emulation) I also found out that Sony is liscensing a GUI liscense version for the Playstation 2. Except the PS2 emulation programs don't work. I knew about this a year ago but haven't realize how much progress has been going on. Until today, I only knew that someone put Redhat Linux 6.1 on Dreamcast at some tech show.

I'm going to try to burn a cd full of NES and one with SNES roms for the Dreamcast. Both DreamNES and NesterDC seem to be revised the most.

[Five hours later] Well, DreamNES 0.98 did not want to work. A major disappointment. I wasted 4 good cdrs trying to make a self booting cd with the emulator successfully burn but not compatible with DC. It's suppose to boot up like the stupid Gameshark disc. I took the program and unzip it. Used Nero to burn a image. It worked but didn't work on Dreamcast. The DreamNES Installer uses Pike, which is free self extracting software for Linux using the C programming language. I am too confusing right now. The emulator runs in Dreamcast's Windows CE version. I should of known it was going to be all lies! No one told me that putting all the program files in a directory with videogame roms wouldn't work. If anyone can tell me how they did it, or even burned the iso image correctly so it would work, send me the is through my EMAIL.
