As already mentioned, this work is based upon numerous SF classics. Another important source was the book "Fishermen of human's souls " (The idea of manipulation or manipulation by ideas), by Djuro Susnjar, that should be the basic for development of TV Republic Project during the further work. Any likeness with the reality is quite accidental.
There was nothing before and nothing will be the same after.
I part - Introduction
Process of integration, urged by the rude development of new technologies during the end of last century, hasn't overtaken all regions and nations. While the rest of mankind goes toward the multinational and free society, some of its parts are going opposite direction.
The year is 2004�somewhere at the edge of Europe.
Slobodantown�the city, the state. The area out of the control of United Nations, the area in which international norms and laws means nothing. Land of chaos and anarchy and the biggest market on the world of smuggled drugs, weapons and new technologies. The hell for ordinary citizens but, therefore, the paradise and challenge for criminals and adventurers from the whole world.
Slobodantown...Millions of people in the war against the rest of world, unaware that neither theirs country nor that world are not the way they seem...The region involves a city with few millions of residents and numerous smaller towns and villages scattered at mountains all around. Downtown of the city is ultra modern, markets are very well equipped, there is everything including stuffs inaccessible at other places�at least, not legally. Up toward the frontier, though, the place changes dramatically, and the misery and hopeless relays the glory and richness. Part of the population work for national and private corporations, mostly in Chemical and Oil industry, majority is unemployed, of course, and lives from the black market. Private parapolice and paramilitary forces rules the land, the state exist only in TV programs and in lower layers of bureaucracy, government controls the population by Television and population has not control over the government at all.
Slobodantown...Thousands of squared miles surrounded by massifs as like the nature wanted to keep that place isolated and single. During several wars, couple of years earlier, in order to prevent further conflicts United Nation's forces are disposed in to the mountains all around the region. Since wars are finished, the major mission of UNTSFOR becomes a fight against the smuggling, and sometimes, when the regular army helps smugglers, those are real, little wars.
Slobodantown...The land of contrasts, the place equally mysterious to strangers as like as to citizens. There are assumptions that the whole situation there is the result of an experiment by medias, and that the people inside are just victims of manipulation by ideas, but those are just assumptions. It is up to historians and sociologists to discover causes and laws needed to get a state like that, and to give theirs opinions about what has really happened there�TV Republic or some kind of Revolution.
