Lord Nagafen

Let me start by introducting myself.  I am Naeadil Mistwolf.  I started EverQuest in August, 2000.  I am a level 51 Wood Elf Druid of Tunare on the Bertoxxulous Server.  I have lead two succesful Lord Nagafen raids on my server.  I have lead zero unsuccesful raids.  I have written this guide to train more heros, if that is what you can call them, to defeat the terror that lives inside the Lavastorm Mountains, a scum of the world of Norrath.  He is a red dragon, named Lord Nagafen.

This can be used for a pick-up or guild-locked raid.  Get your raid to the Lavastorm Goblin Camp above the Nagafen's Lair (Sol B zone).  You will want to have everyone be NON-Anon and NON-Roleplaying, with LFG on.  Form your groups.  It is good to have a cleric and bard in every group.  It is not necessary to have a cleric and bard in every group but it helps alot.  You will need at least 4 clerics, perferably level 49 to level 52 , a few bards, and a 52 monk for pulling the giants.  A good set up for a group is...

Warrior
Melee
Melee
Cleric
Druid/Shaman
Bard

Do this as many times as you can.  After the groups are formed have the first few groups zone in, then the rest.  If you all zone in at once, the zone will crash, which causes death.  Get the raid into the Stone Spider room.  Clear it (and leave it alone with there is a group fighting there.)  You should have already assigned a main assist and secondary assist, have the raid make a hotkey...

AssistMA

/target MA
/assist

AssistSA

/target SA
/assist

When the giants are pulled, have everyone on the raid click AssistMA.  This will target the MA's target.  If the MA dies, get him rezzed asap, but for that battle, they should click Assist SA.  The MA should be a 52 warrior with the highest AC then HP, and then the SA should be the next highest warrior with the highest AC then HP.  Have the raid run up the stairs.  You will see a bridge guarded by two fire giant warriors.  Have the raid RUN into the room by the two fire pots.  Fighting on the bridge is bad.  If the giants are pushed into the lava, they will be completed healed, and will summon the raid one by one into the lava to a fiery death.
fire giant warrior
When these two are disposed of, have the monk puller FD pull the giants from the throne room.  DO NOT pull the Warlords Room yet.  You will get the named giant King Tranix.  He is a Shadow Knight.  He has a pet, that is weak.  Treat him as a normal giant.  Kill him and you will get your "ph4t l3wtz."  He drops a nice crown, as well as a nice hybrid neck item.

Have paladins, rangers, shadow knights, and bards roll on Polished Mithril Torque.  Type /random 4 444.  This item is NODROP, the raid leader should stay on the corpse till the winner is decided.  Then the winner will loot.
Have enchanters and bards roll on the Crown of King Tranix.  Type /random 4 444.  The highest roll wins.
After you have decided on who wins the loots, move your raid up to the Throne Room (the one with the big chair.) Have them GO ONTO THE WALL AND TO STAY OFF THE CHAIR.  Have the monks pull the Warlord Skarlon's room.  Treat him as a normal giant as well as King Tranix.  Once you have cleared him once again you will get some nice prizes.  He drops two pieces of Mithril, the Vambraces (arms) and Greaves (legs).  They are very nice pieces of armor and also drops the "best" pre-Kunark non-planar 2hs sword in the game (also known as the Two Handed Wurmslayer) which is called Razing Sword of Skarlon.
Warlord Skarlon
Have Warriors, Paladins, Rangers, Shadow Knights, and Rogues roll on the Mithril Greaves.  Type /random 4 444.  The highest roll wins.
Have Warriors, Paladins, and Shadow Knights roll on the Razing Sword of Skarlon.  Type /random 4 444.  The highest roll wins.
Have Warriors, Paladins, Rangers, Shadow Knights, and Rogues roll on the Mithril Vambraces.  Type /random 4 444.  The highest roll wins.
After the Warlord's room is cleared, proceed to the bridge.  There are new kinds of giants in these areas.  They are wizards.  Treat them as normal giants, but they pack a punch with their nukes and easily take down casters.  They drop no special loot.  They cast wizard spells.

When you get to the top of the bridge.  Kill the giants.  Then pull the giants from Nagafen's room.  Magi Rokyl will come.  Treat him like a normal giant, and you will get your loots when he falls.  He is a fire giant wizard.
Magi Rokyl
Have Wizards, Necromancers, Magicians, and Enchanters roll on the Rokyls Channelling Crystal.  Type /random 4 444.  The highest roll wins.
Have Wizards, Necromancers, Magicians, Enchanters, Clerics, Druids, and Shamans roll on the Polished Mithril Mask.  Type /random 4 4444.  The highest roll wins.
Congratulations! You have succesfully defeated Lord Nagafen's final defenders!  It is now time to prepare for the epic battle against the fire dragon himself...
Lord Nagafen
Lord Nagafen has 32,000 Hitpoints, has the ability to cast an AoE Fire spell (Fire Damage up to 500) and Dragon Roar (AoE Fear, dispells two spells.)  Both spells resistable (and fire is partial resistable) but uninterruptable.  Lord Nagafen can also summon.
ASSUMING YOUR BUFF GROUP IS LEVEL 52 AND UNDER

Have every group's casters dispell everyone completly, then disband.  Casters bind here NOW.  Have them form a big line in buff hall (facing towards the dragon skull stairs.  The front of the line should be at the very bottom of the stairs in the room with the 4 fire pots.  Make sure no one goes up the stairs as Lord Nagafen will obliterate them.  Your buff group should consist of the highest cleric, the highest necromancer, the highest druid (or highest druid with Circle of Winter), the highest shaman, the highest bard, and the highest enchanter.  Have the cleric invite everyone else except the necromancer.  The necromancer should feed mana to the buff group when they need it.  One by one, invite the raid.  Cast the spells on them.

First you will need the 4 Junk Buffs.  These are put here for Nagafen's AoE Fear to dispell.

1.) Endure Poison. (Shaman)
2.) Endure Disease. (Shaman)
3.) Endure Cold. (Shaman)
4.) See Invisible. (Shaman)
5.) Heroism. (Cleric)
6.) Symbol. (Cleric)
7.) Circle of Winter. (Druid)
8.) Shield of Thorns. (Druid)
9.) Regrowth. (Shaman)
10.) Talismen of Jasinth. (Shaman)
11.) Clarity. (Enchanter)
12.) Haste. (Enchanter)
13.) Resist Magic/Group Resist Magic (Cleric/Enchanter)
14.) Nothing (save for bard resist song).
15.) Nothing (save for bard resist song).

Have them camp one by one to a chatroom.  The first person to be buffed should make the chatroom.  Go to the chat and type #make, the name should be YourServerName-Naggy or something similar.  It should not be private/have a password if a pick-up raid.  When the buff group is buffed and everyone is in the chat go over the plan.  Make sure NO ONE IS TALKING.  Then say the following.

"When I call for everyone to log in, reform groups and wait at the ramp.  When I call for charge, everyone who can type /disc resist and then the following classes should go in:

Warrior, Rogue, Monk, Cleric, Druid, Shaman, Ranger, Shadow Knight, Bard, and Paladin

and RUN to the BACK OF THE ROOM.  DO NOT STOP TILL YOU ARE TO THE BACK OF THE ROOM.  Then surround Lord Nagafen.  Casters must be in melee range to cast on him, under him works good.  At 70 Percent shout for the casters to charge. Wizards, enchanters, necromancers, and mages (with fire pet) should run to the back of the room, then engage Nagafen.  Clerics use Remedy and Celestial and Superior if necessary.  Druids and Shamans use your best heals.  Bards twist Elemental and Guardian Rhythms.  Enchanters should attempt to Tash.  Wizards use Ice Comet/Some kind of Cold Lure or the best Ice DD you have.  Mages only use fire pets.  No other pets,  Necromancers land DoTs and attempt to tap.  Druids and Shamans try and land DoTs.  Necromancers feed mana to clerics.  Paladins use Lay of Hands on your cleric if he/she is going to die or you are going to die.  If there are no clerics use it on whatever Lord Nagafen is killing. Shadow Knights, use Harm Touch when Nagafen is low on health or you KNOW you are going to die..  Rogues attempt to Backstab/Evade.  Don't attempt to FD the Fire AoE will kill you.  Do not run.  Do not gate.  Do not port.  Do not evac.  Fight to the death.  You WILL be rezzed.  Casters when you die, mem a few spells, run in and join the fight again."

"Log in now!"

Groups will form in game.  Refer to the chatroom plan to give orders in game.  When the battle is over, Lord Nagafen will lay DEAD and you will be victorious.  Congratulations! You have defeated Lord Nagafen.  This is a major accomplishment.  Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.  And you thought the named fire giants loot was good...wait till you see this...
