And 9/10

So, who can tell me why there is the 9/10-cent on the price of gas here in the United States. It doesn't make any sense to me. Some say it's a tax thing. But, if it was, why hasn't it ever changed? As the price of gas changes, and if the tax was a percent as it often is, wouldn't that change to 6/10 or 2/10? I don't believe it is a real part of anything. Actually, I think its just bullshit.

Say you go to the gas station and buy exactly 1 gallon of gas. And the price of gas is $1.59 9/10. You will give the cashier $1.60. Will you get change? NO. They stole one tenth of a cent from you. Your change should have been 1 mil ($0.001). Guess what. We don't have any mil pieces. Its not a currency. However, all those mils they steal from you add up to millions in profit.

In Canada, the price of gas does end in a fraction of a cent. But it isn't always 9/10. It actually changes as the price of gas changes. Hmmm. Sounds like they have a real price thing there.

Anyway, I know this page won't have any affect on the world, I just thought I'd bring it up for you to think about.

Below, we see 3 pictures of american gas station price signs.  Note the constant 9/10 thing.  And below the 3 American pictures are 3 Canadian places.  Note the lack of the constant 9/10.  (Canadian gas is priced per litre.)

In the photo below, you can see the constant screwing we get courtesy of the oil companies. As you can see, the taxes they put on the gasoline doesn't equate to 9/10 of a cent in any shape or form. But what happens when you buy gasoline (no matter what the price is) you will get screwed out of either some of the gasoline or some money. Case in point: For $2.00 (and 0/10) I received 0.999 GALLONS of fuel at a price of $1.99 (and 9/10) per gallon.

We get screwed like this every day people!
