Introduction of the characters found in Amahara
Sayo- Sayo is the little girl who, at the beginning of the game is kind enough to feed you a rice ball when you are near death from hunger. She is commonly known as “no name”, but through her storyline, it is found out that Sayo is her real name. This young girl has a heart of pure gold and runs errands/deliveries for Maikaze, the village of Amakaze-cho, and for Dr. Genan and his clinic. How will you repay her kindness?
Maikaze- Maikaze lives her life with a tremendous amount of pride in Amakaze-cho where she takes on the challenge of being the head courtesan at the Amakaze inn. She is said to be very good at what she does, and her time is very valuable, so you better stock up on Mon.
Nami- Nami is another of Amakaze’s fine courtesans. She has blonde hair and wears a white mini-skirt. It is rumored that she is quite skilled in combat, particularly with a scimitar. Nami is often seen hanging around with the high ranking magistrate Yasuno, but is Yasuno just a customer of Nami’s? Or does Nami have other associations?
Yasuno- Yasuno is a magistrate, rather one of the shogun’s magistrates who is favoured be many gangsters as he is more than willing to accept their bribes. In fact, if anything Yasuno insists on it. Yasuno is a skilled fighter welding a pair of claws who can be found having a “good time” at night with his favourite courtesan Nami. Yasuno appears to be concerned with the well being of chief magistrate Kuroha, but is that only an appearance?
Danpachi- Danpachi has been appointed to control the everyday running of Amakaze-cho. He is very knowledgeable of his town, and will help you should you need it. Danpachi can commonly be seen guarding the Amakaze inn, so don’t cause trouble too close to the inn, or Danpachi will be your next opponent.
Kusaburo- Kusaburo is a medicine peddler who wears white attire with a purple bandana. He carries the medicines he sells on his back in his back pack. He is most commonly seen peddling his medicines around Shikano-cho, and will inform you of certain important meetings that you may wish to attend.
Dr. Genan- Dr. Genan is Amahara’s single and most trustworthy doctor. He uses special forms of massage to heal his patients, and will rush to the aid of a sick or injured person the second he hears of their situation. Dr. Genan hates the samurai as he feels that all they do is bully people around with their weapons and sends more and more people to his clinic. But where does Dr. Genan get the money to help all of these people? And why is there a door in the corner of his clinic?
Chiyo- Chiyo is Dr. Genan’s only assistant at the clinic, and is an attentive and caring person. She sometimes has to bring Dr. Genan to his senses when Genan is being too closed minded. Chiyo was not born in Amahara, but when asked, refuses to talk about her past.
Kyojiro- Kyojiro is the right hand man (or woman) of the Aoto gang. Kyojiro is always on the lookout for victims who may to able to satisfy her needs to spill blood. In fact, it is said that you can follow the stench of blood right to Kyojiro. Kyojiro is an insane mad dog who is very difficult to control.
Hanzaemon- Hanzaemon is the current leader of the Aoto gang. He is a stone-cold killer who has metamorphosis the Aoto gang from something of chivalry and justice to what you see before you today. At least since his predecessor died of murder…His soul ambition is to gain control of the Aoto gang, and of Amahara. To see this goal come into fruition, Hanzaemon will do whatever is takes.
Aoto three- Nihei, Ichikichi and Santa (no, not the Santa you’re thinking of) are three low-life minions of the Aoto gang who always act as a team. They are similar to a circus clown in appearance and enjoy bullying and extorting weaker citizens. Could these three be a threat to Amahara?
Kasumi- A rather quiet woman dressed in a royal blue kimono, Kasumi is the daughter of the former and deceased boss of the Aoto gang. Kasumi would like nothing more than to see Amahara be restored to its former glory, but what power could a girl such as her possess?
Nakamura- Although he may look like a wuss, (and a queer) Nakamura is actually a very fierce warrior. He could not have gotten such a rank in the magistrate if he weren’t, right? Nakamura has an exceptional sword arm and a cunning mind that he uses to manipulate certain samurai to carry out favorable actions. In fact, it is rumored that Nakamura once beat down two men with a third. But what would a magistrate such as Nakamura need to use his deception for?
Goshiro Muto- Goshiro is a magistrate who acts as the right hand man to the chief magistrate Kuroha. Goshiro is a very accomplished swordsman and is willing to do anything at Kuroha’s command. Goshiro wishes to rid the negative reputation to the word “samurai” and restore peace and order to the town of Amahara.
Kuroha- Kuroha acts as the chief magistrate in Amahara. At one point, Kuroha was loved by the people of Amahara for his sense of honesty and honour, and wishes to restore this reputation by defending the people of Amahara from the Shogun. Kuroha is a very important man whose head is wanted by many, but what assassin could possibly kill the chief of all magistrates?
Mr. Beniya- Beniya is a very wealthy merchant who resides in Otsuka-cho. He wears a top knot, and a green robe. Beniya knows a lot about the politics around Amahara…especially for a merchant. What could his intentions in Amahara be?
