Old PS2s…

Why, in the hell, must my PS2 stop functioning now, right when it’s in it’s prime. The whole problem summed up: I have an ancient PS2.

So, yesterday, Hanzaemon’s over at my place, and we’re looking for a new game to static. Monster Hunter got boring, we’ve done everything possible with Champions of Norrath. He’s too much of a cheap ass to buy Final Fantasy XI, so we’re sitting here stuck without any ideas. So, eventually I get a bright one. “Let’s go to EB and browse, maybe we’ll find something.”

So, an hour later or so, we head to EB and start looking. I’m personally searching for Gauntlet Legends for PS1, so I start to look through the PS1 games. I find Bushido Blade and pick it up off the shelf. Turn the rack, RPG Maker 1 (2 was a total failure, I’ll save that rant for another day), pick that up.
Hanzaemon proves his worth (didn’t really know what purpose he served to humanity before, except for really random rants about luck) by spotting the last copy (“last copy” we were told, it was probably their only copy) of Samurai Western. Amazing game, I’ll do an impressions rant later.

So, we’re back at my place, and I stick in Bushido Blade. We wait, wait, wait, wait and wait. So I’m sitting there like “what the hell…?” My PS2 is an older model, which was rumored to have problems with reading CDs after a while. The problem is, I’ve just finished FF8 not even 3 weeks ago. I stick in FF8 and some PS2 CD based games. Nothing. No-freakin-thing. /sigh

So yeah, now I have to get my PS1 back from a friend who’s had it for a good 2 years now in order to play PS1 games. As for my CD based PS2 games, PS3 damn well better have a backwards compatibility, otherwise I’m going to be very, -very- pissed.

          Damn old PS2s…
