This painting was done under the auspices of the watchful Karen Bemis. IN the least I can say that she made me do it. She basically just gave me the paint one day and said, "Buy some canvas and paint something." From that point on a day didn't pass that Karen didn't ask for her paint back. So after about 2 weeks holding her paints for ransom (she confiscated my poetry book by the way) I finally decided to paint something and give it to her as a birthday present. Well this is the fruit of my labor. It's nothing really special. I was just trying something new, but i enjoyed the little time i spent with a brush in my hand. Considering that I know absolutely nothing about the art of painting or about any kind of brush strokes, I think that I did fairly well. This painting is someone's eye of course, and inside is another "eye" which represents how the person feels on the inside, their "state of mind." At any rate, the bright colors on the outside are supposed to represent happiness and the inside of the eye is another eye that is supposed to be crying. It didn't really turn out how i wanted, but oh well. It was worth a shot. Thanks Karen for letting me borrow the paint.
