Mason Eckhart was born to Captain Connor Doyle Eckhart and Marilyn Tia Eckhart on the June 6, 1962, at a marine hospital in Feyetteville, Arkansas. He had a twin brother, Marcus Aaron, who was killed in 1970 by "accidental drowning", though as with much involving Mason, this could be a cover.
His father was a very strict man. In one incident, he imprisoned young Mason in the psychiatric wards where he worked to discipline the child. This punishment lasted a whole weekend and it may be resposible for Mason's temperament and mental stability. Captain Eckhart worked in the medical field with the marines, specialising in mental health.
Mason led a troubled childhood. His mother, Marilyn, commited suicide when he was still a child. This with the loss of his eight-year-old brother, Marcus, left the remaining Eckharts very detached. They kept away from each other and only ever spoke to one another when it was absolutely necessary.
Eckhart married former Miss Vermont, Jacqueline LaPort. They were happily together for six years and had three children, a son, Grey and twin daughters, Michelle and Deidre. Since his divorce with Jacqueline, he has had very little contact with his family.
In the 1980s, Mason Eckhart joined Genomex and his work awarded him great respect within the company. He was involved with "Incident X". All records were destroyed of its existence but it caused the destruction of Mason's immune system and he now needs to apply an "exo-skin" to protect him from illness.
After Paul Breedlove's death, Mason took over Genomex and formed the GSA. He manipulated Adam Kane's inventions: the subdermal governor and the stasis pod and used them against the New Mutants Genomex had created, becoming Adam's enemy.
Gabriel Ashlocke, potentially the most powerful New Mutant alive was released by some traitors within his company and the result was Eckhart being put into a stasis pod where he remains, today.
