THE STORY OF THE MESSIAH

'Eyssa son of Maryam, "Jesus Christ", al-Masih (The Anointed One), al-Nabiullah (The Prophet of God), al-Rasulullah (The Messenger of God), al-Ruhullah (The Spirit of God), a sign of the Day of Judgment

Among the events of the end of time, Prophet Muhammad has foretold the return of the Messiah, Prophet 'Eyssa ("Jesus") the son of Maryam (Mary) which will materialize when a false claimant to divinity (Dajjal) will attempt to misguide humanity into worshipping him. The Messiah will descend from the heavens in Damascus, pray in a congregation that the Mahdi leads, chase and kill the Dajjal, destroy the savage and unbelieving armies of Yajuj and Majuj (Gog and Magog), and bring peace and brotherhood to the world.

Everyone of the people of the book will recognize the truth and accept him only as a Messenger of Allah (SWT); the religion of Allah, Islam will justly rule the world.

"And there is none Of the people of the Scriptures (Jews and Christians) But must believe in him (i.e. Jesus as an Apostle of Allah and a human being) before his death. And on the Day of Judgment He will be a witness against them."
(The Holy Quran, An-Nisa, 4:159)

There will be no oppression and no need to fight oppressors so all war will cease and consequently there will be need to collect the jizyah. Every human being will be well-off and no one will accept charity.  The Messiah will perform Hajj and/or Umrah, marry, have children then die 19 years after marriage and after living on earth for 40 years after his return. Thereafter, his death will signal the beginning of the last days:

"And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (Hour), but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way."
(Quran, Az-Zukhuruf, 43:61)

His Descent back to Earth

Prophet 'Eyssa will descend on a group of Muslims that will be righteous at the time, comprising of 800 men and 400 women who will be led by the Mahdi as they are preparing for war against the Dajjal. From the darkness of the dawn, a sound will suddenly be heard that "one who listens to your pleas has come" -- the righteous people will look everywhere and their eyes will fall on 'Eyssa . Briefly, at the time of the Fajr Salat (morning prayer), 'Eyssa will descend. When descending, 'Eyssa's hands will be on the shoulders of two angels (according to another source (Kab Abrar), a cloud will carry him). On their insistence Prophet 'Eyssa will introduce himself. He will inquire about their enthusiasm and thoughts on Jihad against the Dajjal. Prophet 'Eyssa will descend on the eastern side near the Minaret in Damascus (or in Baitul-Muqaddus in Jerusalem). At the time the Mahdi will have proceeded forward to lead the Fajr prayer. The Iqamah (second call) of the prayer would have already been recited and the Mahdi will call Prophet 'Eyssa to lead the prayer. However, Prophet 'Eyssa will instead tell the Mahdi to lead the prayer since the Iqamah has already been said for him. Thus the Mahdi will lead the prayer and Prophet 'Eyssa will join the congregation following him in it. After the prayer, he will say: "Allah has killed the Dajjal and the Muslims have appeared."

The Physical Features of Prophet 'Eyssa:

He will resemble Urwah son of Mas'ud who was a famous companion of Prophet Muhammad. He will be of average height with a ruddy complexion. His hair would be spread to his shoulders, straight, neat and shining as if after a bath. On bending his head, it will seem as if pearls are falling. He will have an armor on his body and will be wearing two garments that are light yellow in color.

The Killing of the Dajjal and the Victory of the Muslims

After the completion of the morning prayer, Prophet 'Eyssa  will open the door behind him where the Dajjal accompanied by his army of 70,000 Jews will be. Prophet 'Eyssa will indicate with his hand to move away between himself and the Dajjal. Dajjal will then see Prophet 'Eyssa . At that time every Kaffir on whom the breath of Prophet 'Eyssa will reach, will die. His breath will reach up to the distance of his eyesight. The Muslims will then come down from the mountains and break loose on the army of Dajjal. There will be war and Prophet 'Eyssa  will pursue Dajjal. Prophet 'Eyssa will have two flexible swords and one shield with him and with these he will kill the Dajjal at the Gate of Hudd. He will show the Muslims the blood of the Dajjal, which will get on his shield. The Jews who followed and supported the Dajjal will be selected and killed. The swine will be killed and the cross broken. People will revert to Islam. Wars will end, and people will return to their respective countries. One group of Muslims will remain in his service and companionship.

Prophet 'Eyssa will then go to Fajr Rawha and perform Hajj or Umrah (or both) from there. He will also go to the grave of Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) and present his greetings and the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) will reply. People will live comfortable lives and the Caliphate of the Mahdi would rule the world for the next 7 years with equity and justice.

After these 7 years of peace have elapsed, the Mahdi will pass away. The Muslims will then perform his funeral prayers, which 'Eyssa the Messiah will lead. Afterward, Prophet 'Eyssa will succeed the Mahdi as the Caliph and Allah will then reveal to Prophet ‘Eyssa these words: "I have brought forth from among My servants such people against whom none will be able to fight; you take these people safely to (Sinai)", and then Allah will send the tribes of Gog and Magog and they will swarm down from every slope. The first of them will pass the lake of Tiberias and drink out of it. And when the last of them passes, he will say: "There was once water there". They will drink all the water, and the people will entrench themselves in their fortresses. The Gog and Magog tribes will fire their arrows into the sky, and they will fall back to earth with something like blood on them. The tribes of Gog and Magog will then say, 'We have defeated the people of earth, and overcome the people of heaven.' They will rush out in all directions, spreading corruption, uprooting plants, and killing people.

Prophet ‘Eyssa and his companions will then be besieged at Mount Sinai, and they will be so hard pressed that the head of the ox will be dearer to them than 100 dinars. Prophet ‘Eyssa (peace be upon him) and his companions will supplicate to Allah, Who will send to the armies of Gog and Magog insects, which will attack their necks and in the morning they would perish as one single person. Prophet ‘Eyssa (peace be upon him) and his companions then come down from Mount Sinai and they will not find on Earth as much space as a single span that is not filled with putrefaction and stench. Prophet ‘Eyssa (peace be upon him) and his companions will then beseech Allah who will send birds whose necks would be like those of Bactrian camels and they will carry the corpses away and throw them where Allah wills. Then, the people will burn the bows and arrows of Gog and Magog for another 7 years.

Then after those 7 years Allah will send rain, which no house of mud-bricks or (tent of) camelhair will keep out and it will wash the Earth until it resembles a mirror. Then the Earth will be told to bring forth its fruit and restore its blessing and, as a result thereof, there will grow such a big pomegranate that a group of people will be able to eat it and seek shelter under its skin, a dairy cow will give so much milk that a whole party will be able to drink it. The milking camel will give such a large quantity of milk that the whole tribe will be able to drink from it, and the milking-sheep will give so much milk that the whole family will be able to drink from it, and another 7 years of peace will elapse.
