Craig Rice was definitely what one would call an interesting lady. Her life was more bizarre than any book she could have ever written. Jeffrey Marks takes on the incredible task of writing Craig Rice's biography. Finding accurate information on Rice must have been next to impossible because there are hardly any documents to be found from that time regarding Rice. Also as Marks points out, Rice rarely told the truth, if a lie served a better purpose. It was never malicious; Rice just liked to have a little fun.

This biography is among one of the best that I have had the pleasure of reading. Marks talks about Rice's life, as well as her writing. He gives us little snippets of her work, allowing us to get an even broader sense of her as a person and artist. From the time Rice was born in 1908, she was a creative, mysterious lady. As the only mystery writer to grace the cover of Time magazine, there has always been curiosity about her. Well, wonder no more because Jeffrey Marks has gone above and beyond the call of duty to whet our appetites. For a quick, fun, and informative read on the queen of screwball mystery, this is the book I recommend.
