I'm not sure where I first saw Ayelet Waldman's name, but I'm glad I stumbled across it. Her Mommy-Track Mystery series featuring public-defender-turned-stay-at-home-mom, Juliet Applebaum is funnier than heck and I found myself laughing out loud many times while I was reading NURSERY CRIMES, the first in the series. Second in the series is THE BIG NAP and both books have the CUTEST covers I've seen in a long time. I know you can't judge a book by it's cover, but if I'm attracted to a cover I'm MUCH more likely to pick the book up and read the descriptive blurbs. I will admit to being reluctant to take the time to read a book with a heroine who I thought would be TOTALLY opposite of me, but the plot of NURSERY CRIMES sounded intriguing so I decided to give it a shot. Boy, am I glad I did! I think a snippet of one review I read said it best. When you think of Juliet Applebaum, "think Kinsey Millhone with a diaper bag." Ayelet Waldman is another author I highly recommend you check out.
