NEVER BURN A WITCH |

I was TOTALLY blown away by NEVER BURN A WITCH! This is definitely NOT a cozy mystery and those who are faint of heart should delve into it only in the full light of day. Rowan Gant, computer consultant and practicing Witch, is once again called into a police investigation by his friend, St. Louis City Homicide Detective Ben Storm. Two women are found gruesomely murdered and bible passages and strange symbols suggest the killer is on a Witch hunt. NEVER BURN A WITCH has it all...stigmata, burning at the stake, psychic visions, death, mutiliation and abject terror. I'm not easily spooked, but as the body count rose and Sellars drew me deeper and deeper into the action, I must admit the creaks and groans of the house around me started giving me the creeps. NEVER BURN A WITCH is scheduled for release May 1, 2001, which gives you plenty of time to grab the first in the series, HARM NONE, and become familiar with Rowan, his wife Felicity, Ben Storm and the Major Case Squad.
Reviewed by Kay Martinez NEVER BURN A WITCH is the second in the excellent Rowan Gant mystery series by M.R. Sellars. In this book, Rowan is asked to aid the local police when a serial killer strikes. What sets this serial killer apart, and requires Rowan's knowledge and abilites, is the fact that all the victims are either practicing or assumed witches. A killer has decided to revisit the Inquisition and what is known as the Burning Times to eliminate practitioners of WitchCraft. The descriptions of the crimes, the settings, and characters in this book make the story come alive for the reader and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough! Mr. Sellars has given the reader good history on the horrid treatment of those accused of WitchCraft during the Burning Times. The only bad thing was reaching the end of the book and knowing it will be a few months before the third book, PERFECT TRUST will be available. It is my sincere hope that this series will continue for many books to come. |
