Do NOT loan this book to anyone who doesn't like their mysteries gritty, raw and surrounded by darkness! All White Girls, by Michael Bracken, graphically takes you into the depraved world of pedophilia, illegal pornography, prostitution and murder. You travel these littered streets with Big Dick Rickenbacher and Lieutenant Salvador Castellano. They were police partners until, when investigating the brutal murder of Castellano's sister, Rickenbacher was accused of "excessive use of force". He resigned, and now is an unlicensed private investigator. Their paths cross as Rickenbacher is searching for a female, teenage runaway and Castellano is investigating the murder of another female, teenage runaway. Their hunt is into the shadows where men prey on young girls; and young girls do anything to survive on the streets one more day, hopefully. They are on the streets of strip clubs, adult book stores. Pimping. Drugs. Knives. Bracken's descriptions and dialogue are sharp, crisp and biting. The story never drags, it is driven, but not out of control. Rickenbacher 'feels' real, with all of his flaws. All of his characters bring something valuable to the story. The story will grab you from page one until the end, and wow, what a ride! |
