THE NEW BIRKENHEAD TRAMWAY VIDEO

The video begins with a brief history of the old Birkenhead Tramways, and tells how George Francis Train, from Boston USA, opened Europe's first street railway in Birkenhead.
It shows also the setting up of the new museum and tramshed at Pacific Road in 1994 and the efforts of the MTPS in moving their historic trams from a temporary home at Cammel Lairds shipyard.
We then take a trip on the New Birkenhead Tramway and visit the other attractions of the "Birkenhead Packet" Museum Tour, such as the "Ferry Across The Mersey", "Egerton Bascule Bridge" and the "Giant Birkenhead Grasshopper".
The video also tells about future extensions of the tramway, and shows the beginning of the route to the new Taylor Street depot, which started in February 2000.
