About Us
The Middletown Twp. Explorer Post was started in 1956 as a riffle and drill team by now retired Captain William W. Woodward. After some time the riffle and drill team was evolved in and Explorer Post.
New Explorers must pass a manditory 3 month probationary period before getting voted in as a sworn explorer. This probationary period is to teach new recrutes the fundementals of law enforcement and the operations of the explorer post. Once you are voted in, you are issued a distinct uniform complete with badge, ID card and individual ID number.
Explorers will participate in functions dealing with traffic and crowd control includeing: Red Bank's fire works, Summer Concerts, Church and Firemans Fairs, Belmar's St. Pats Day parade, Many Running Races, Police Week, Middletown Day, and marching in several parades. Explorers also participate in monthly trainings given by other towns in all aspects of law enforcement.
All work and no play make for dull times, for this reason the explorer post also offers some fun details, such as trips to great adventure, ski trips, a weekend in Wildwood, BBQ's, baseball games, and several other fun events.
Whatever an Explorer chooses to do in life is up to them, but their times as an Explorer will always be remembered. Middletown's Chief John F. Pollinger was a member of the Middletown Explorer Post over 30 years ago
