El Dorado Beef-Cheese Casserole

1 lb ground beef

1 Tbsp instant minced onion

1/2 tsp garlic salt

2 cans (8 oz each) tomato sauce

1 cup sour cream

1 cup cottage cheese

1 small can Ortega chiles, chopped

1 pkg tortilla chips, crushed

2 cups grated colby cheese

Saute beef, drain off excess fat.� Add onion,garlic salt, and tomato sauce to beef.� In a mixing bowl, combine sour cream, cottage cheese, and chiles.� Place half of crushed chips in bottom of well-buttered 2-1/2 quart casserole dish.� Add half of the meat mixture. � Cover with half of sour cream mixture.� Sprinkle with half of grated cheese. � Repeat layers.� Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes.

NOTE:� Substitute minced cooked roast beef, chicken or turkey for the ground beef.
