A classical rendition of the book by Roald Dohl. Charlie, the main character of the story, lives with his very poor family. Charlie has no dad, but he has his mom and 2 sets of grandparents. Willy Wonka, the owner of a large chocolate factory, has made a contest in which the first 5 people that find gold wrapper candy bars get to visit his factory. After the first 4 find theirs, a fraud says he has the 5th, but Charlie ends up finding it. Mishaps occur while everyone is in the chocolate factory.

9/10. This movie will be a classic. Wait, it already is. This was a very thrilling movie and I'm glad I got to see it. I've seen it several times, but I thought it was much longer than this. I appluad Mr. Dahl on writing such a fine piece of work.
Gene Wilder was hilariously funny. You could tell that he didn't make sense one minute and the next he made perfect sense. It's almost like he could predict the future. Then he was always turning things around backwards, but he wanted them frontwards. "So much time and so little to do. Wait a minute. Strike that. Reverse it."
Peter Ostrum was very good as Charlie. I don't think I could have thought of a better person to play Charlie. Jack Albertson was also very good as Charlie's grandfather. He was very funny. Though I would like to make one remark: After being in bed for 20 straight years, he wouldn't be able to walk because he would have absoultely no muscle in his legs to support him thus making him fall over. But hey, it's a movie.
The special effects were interesting for this time and age. The movie was made in 1971, but I thought it was made in the 60's. Anyway, some things were quite spectacular. For instance, when Charlie and his Grandpa were flying, you couldn't see the wires that were holding them up. I was very amazed. But then we compare some other footage. The elevator that flies was comprised of very, very fake looking footage. When it blasted through the top of the roof, you could tell it was a model. Also when it was flying around, the footage didn't look right. Though all of this could be correct in today's day and age.
I especially liked the Oompa Loompas. They were funny because they always had these catchy little songs after something bad went wrong. "Oompa Loompa, Doobity Doo...."
All in all, this was a great movie with a great plot, and you'll be enjoying yourself for the whole time that you watch.

8/10. This children's classic has captured the imagination of millions of kids all over the civilized world for over thirty years. I remember watching the movie when I was a little kid and wishing I could go to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. I wanted all the free grub. Now that I'm older the movie seems stupid to me, but it will always be a great family movie to watch for generations to come.
