7/10. A hilarious comedy about a woman named Lucy (Sandra Bullock). She works at a subway depot accepting tokens for the subway. At about the same time every morning, she sees the man of her dreams walk by, put a token in and catch the 8:00 or 8:15 subway train. She's never said hi to him, but she loves him very dearly. One day, on Christmas, he pays his token as usual and waits for the train. He gets mugged and pushed onto the tracks. Lucy runs out of her post and tries to help him. She jumps onto the tracks, and Peter (Peter Gallagher) is in a coma. A subway train is heading her direction, and she can't wake up Peter. Finally, when the train's within about 10 feet, she rolls with Peter's body into this little hole under the station.
She rushes to the hospital and wonders what become of Peter. They won't admit her to see Peter, and under her breath she says, "I'm going to marry him." A nurse hears that and thinks that she is his fiance. When the family comes in, they love her to pieces, and she doesn't have the heart to tell them that she's not his fiance. Mishaps insue.
This was an interesting Romantic comedy. I was laughing quite a bit when all of the different mishaps insue. Peter's old girlfriend says she wants to marry him but only calls to the answering machine. No one really knows who she is except Peter. Saul finds out Lucy's secret early on, but tells her not to tell anyone about it. Saul says he'll tell but always somehow "forgets."
Sandra Bullock was interesting in this movie. It seemed like she plays these roles a lot, Two Weeks Notice comes to mind. Her acting was good, and I felt sorry for her character. Her father and mother were dead. No friends really. A cat, though. She was just alone and sad. Bill Pullman was good as Jack. I thought I've seen him in many other movies, but the only one that comes to mind is Casper. His acting was good, and at the end was pretty funny. Peter Gallagher as Peter was ok. We don't really get to know him much except for the fact that he saved 3 squirrels. Though, what actually happened.....Nevermind. I think I would have enjoyed his character more if we had known more about him, or if he wasn't in a coma. But then, where would the title come from?
Anyway, I must learn to stop rambling, this is a funny movie about little lies.
