7/10. A futuristic twist on Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, Treasure Planet follows restless teen Jim Hawkins on a fantastic journey across the universe as cabin boy aboard a majestic space galleon. Befriended by the ship's charismatic cyborg cook, John Silver, Jim blossoms under his guidance and shows the makings of a fine shipmate as he and the alien crew battle a supernova, a black hole, and a ferocious space storm. But even greater dangers lie ahead when Jim discovers that his trusted friend Silver is actually a scheming pirate with mutiny on his mind.
This was a moderately good movie. At first, I thought this movie would be bad especially in the previews at the movies. But as the movie moved on, it got seemingly better.
The characters were interesting. Though you can't really say one was better than the other because they were all animated/C.G.I. Though the 3 characters that stay in my mind are Morph, Doctor Doppler, and B.E.N. Morph, as you can guess, morphs into things. He added a lot of comic relief that was extremely funny by imitating people and the such. Doctor Doppler added more comic relief with his silly sayings. Lastly, B.E.N. who is a robot that has been stuck on treasure planet for 100 years. He also added comic relief.
As I was watching some of the extra junk on the DVD, I saw that some of the stuff was C.G.I. Some of the movie was pretty obvious, but others were not. John Silver's arm was computer animated, but I never would have known unless I had watched the DVD stuff. It was amazing, but that seemed to be the only C.G.I. that didn't stand out.
All in all, this was a fine movie, and you may want to see it, and you might not.
