9/10. This was a great movie. I applaud George Lucas for making such a great movie. I was sad to see that the movie was on VHS and not on DVD. Though I was in for a surprise. George was commenting about the movie at the beginning. (This was Special Edition, SE). He was telling the camera about the follies and other things that the orignal version had. He always felt that they were never fulfilled.
While I was watching, I noticed a few technical follies. When Obi-Wan gets killed, he evaporates into thin air. Normally when someone dies, don't they just kind of lay there? Another part was with the light sabers. They seemed like the glow was missing in some parts. Sometimes all you could see was a rod that was discolored. I noticed when anyone turned on the light sabers, the film just kind of stopped in mid motion and then resumed. It was very choppy. Though I can't really blame this on George because of the technology that they had in the 1970's. He probably couldn't correct it when they went back through the original film.
Mark Hamill did great as Luke Skywalker. I think George did a good job of picking out Mark as the true Luke. The only person that I think could have looked like him at least was Michael J. Fox. Though he was just a little too young then. Harrison Ford did great as Han Solo. I personally love him for all the characters that he's done (Indiana Jones, the President).
I'm really truly excited for the 2 sequels (Empire Strikes Back, and The Return of the Jedi), and I'm excited for the prelude to A New Hope, Episode #3. All in all, George did a great job in making this movie, and there is no one else who could have done a better job. You should rent this movie a lot or better yet buy it!
