9/10. Trust me, you haven't heard this Priest and Rabbi story. As young kids, Jake and Brian were the best of friends. They had a great relationship, but one was jewish and the other Catholic. They never let those differences get in their way because they were always fasinated by each other's religion. Then one day, a beautiful girl comes along and saves their butts from a bully. All 3 become the best of friends. In the 8th grade, Anna Riley has to move away, which makes all 3 of them sad. Though it strengthened Brian's and Jake's relationship. As they became older, Jake became a Rabbi, and Brian became a Priest. They were both assigned too the same city in New York, so they got back together again. They try to make their congregations better by telling joke sermons, inlvolving the audience, etc. It works and they pray to full houses. Then after 16ish years, Anna Riley calls up, and says she wants to get together. Jake and Anna fall in love, and Brian doesn't no about it.
Man, this was a great movie. It perfectly dictates how Jews and Christians (Catholics, Protestents, etc) can get along. Jake and Brian had their fights but they always seemed to resolve them.
Personally, Ben Stiller is one of my favorite actors. He did great in this movie as Jake. I could almost picture Ben as a real Rabbi if he ever wanted to get out of the movie business. He put the right dose of energy and jokes into his sermons at the synagogue. Everyone loved it, and people actually came. Usually, Jews only show up for the biggest holidays of the year, not weekly services. He got it together and was great. Ben's character brought in a Gospel choir to sing once, and he brought in a band. He was just very creative.
Edward Norton as Brian was interesting. You could tell there was a strong bond between his character and Ben's. I really can't base this movie on any Edward's other works. Fight Club and Death to Smoochy are the only ones that I've heard of from his short list of acting. With Jenna Elfman, I can't really base anything on any of her other works. She did pretty well, and I can see why Jake and Brian like her charcter so much.
When I was looking at the cast list and crew list, I was surprised to see Edward Norton direct this movie. This was his first one, plus he stared in it. His crew did a really good job with camera angles. They were always just the right distance, and made me feel like I was in the shot.
There were many things that I liked about this movie, but I'll name 3. #1. I liked this movie because it had a Rabbi and a Priest as friends. You don't see any movies out like this, so it was pretty cool to watch. #2. I really liked the Rabbi Trading card. Those were really funny. #3. I felt bad for Jake because of all of this horrible dates. Most of them were disgusting.
The only bad thing that I thought about this movie was how slow it got at the end. It seemed to drag on for a while
ALl in all, this was a great a movie, and should be seen by all
