1/10. Renowned archeologist and expert in the occult, Dr. Indiana Jones, is back in action in the 2nd Indy film. He teams up with a night club singer and a 12 year old named Short Round. They end up in an Indian village, where the people believe evil spirits have taken their children away after a sacred stone was stolen. Indiana agrees to try and retrieve the stone for the villagers.
Bad horribly bad. Let me say that I've seen the movie in 2 parts out of 3. Also the 2nd part which i've seen more recently was put onto T.V. and most likely had something edited out.
Now, the only good thing out of this movie was Harrison Ford. He was and still is one of the better actors in the Hollywood lot. Now I can't exactly remember the rest of hte bunch because I was probably hiding my head inside of a pillow for the first part.
I know Steven Spielberg made this movie, and even though I adore his work, this was terrible. I was very dissappointed in George Lucas, who wrote the script. Because of this movie, they had to create what we know today as PG-13. The reason for creating PG-13? It's simple really. The movie was too violent for a PG rating yet, not violent enough for an R rating.
Now, there were many special effects to speak of, yet sometimes they didn't look real. During the mine-cart sequence, you could obviously tell that dummies were thrown from the carts. During the bridge sequence, you could see that the bridge would get longer and shorter, and/or higher up or lower down. Those were some of the main inconsistencies.
The thing that brought down my rating a lot was about how gross the movie was. In fact, that's the only reason why I stopped watching the movie at a middle point when Mola Ram started pulling out people's hearts left and right. It was just too gross to handle at the time. Though I'm surprised by how many people actually liked the movie itself. Imdb.com gave the movie 7/10, and rottentomatoes.com, people didn't think the movie was rotten.
Anyway, I hated this movie every single turn that it took. Raiders of the Lost Ark is my favorite, and I liked The Last Crusade. I don't recommend the movie, but hey, some people liked it more than me.
