6/10. A fish-out-of-water comedy about a talented street drummer from Harlem who enrolls in a Southern university, expecting to lead its marching band's drumline to victory. He initially flounders in his new world, before realizing that it takes more than talent to reach the top.
It almost seemed to me that they could have shortened the movie by about 30 minutes. It seemed to go on for an extremely long time. I throughly enjoyed the battles with the drums, but some of the rest of it was ok.
The characters were hunky dory. Nick Cannon was fine as his character but he seemed to get pretty mad during his parts. The only other character that I remember was the band director because he was the 7-up guy.
All in all, this was a fine movie, and should be seen if you're in band.
