Spade decided that rather than get beat up anymore because of his diminutive size, he would fight back with comedy. Upon arriving in Los Angeles, Spade was awarded a small role in "Police Academy 4: Citizens On Patrol." Spade's rise to fame came when an HBO young comics special hosted by Dennis Miller landed him an audition for "Saturday Night Live." Spade nailed the job and started as a writer and performer in 1990. Spade keeps busy playing "the finchiest Finch" on the NBC sitcom "Just Shoot Me."
