8/10. In the hilarious comedy Daddy Day Care, two fathers (Eddie Murphy, Jeff Garlin) lose their jobs in product development at a large food company and are forced to take their sons out of the exclusive Chapman Academy and become stay-at-home fathers. With no job possibilities on the horizon, the two dads open their own day care facility, "Daddy Day Care", and employ some fairly unconventional and sidesplitting methods of caring for children. As "Daddy Day Care" starts to catch on, it launches them into a highly comedic rivalry with Chapman Academy's tough-as-nails director (Anjelica Huston) ...who has driven all previous competitors out of business.
This was a truly funny movie. Towards the end, you felt sorry for Charlie and the kids. But hey, this was a good movie all the way around.
The acting was very good in this movie. Eddie Murphy should applaud himself for being good because he hasn't done a good movie in a while. He was a loving caring father, which always seems to be his good movies (Doctor Dolittle). Jeff Garlin looks like John Goodman, and strangely enough they share the same initials. He was good, most oftenly funny, and over reacted on things, i.e. the dead rat, and the bees. The actor(s) that I was most impressed with were the children. I wonder how many takes it took to get all the scenes right, but those kids were good at them.
As I was watching this, I felt like this story line was fresh and new. No one has attempted something like this before in the movies. Usually it's taken after by the moms as a thing to do, but day care finally made the men look like they could do somehting.
I hated that preschool named Chapman. They were too prim and proper, and as Eddie Murphy joked, "This is like a junior Princeton." Expensive place to be at too...
All in all, this was a good movie, and take the children to see it, it'll be great
