| Glimmer of a Fantasy By: Serena My eyes flicker open. I can only hear the sound of my own deep breaths, and I can only see darkness. I strain to recognize my surroundings, but everything is pure darkness. I stand, breathing, alone, for a few moments. Theres suddenly a feeling on my left arm, a toucha hand lightly grazing my skin. I close my eyes and the smallest hint of a smile reaches my lips. I cherish the feeling of that touch, as the sweet caress begins to travel down to my left hand. My curiosity wins over, and I open my eyes to slowly turn around, not once even thinking about letting that hand go. There he is. The smile on my face grows larger as does his, and stars begin to sparkle in my eyes. Somehow, both of our gazes turn to where our hands are still together, lightly stroking each others fingers. He gently pulls on mine, as we slowly meet each others eyes once again. The pull, in turn, helps me to take a step forward. There are no words to be spoken, in fear of destroying the beauty of this moment. I never want it to end, for if it does, the rest of my life will take me back, and this will only be but a memory. I push these thoughts away, as I attempt to do as philosophers have advised, and seize the day. During these thoughts, my hand has unconsciously traveled up to his soft cheek. I lightly cup the side of his beautiful face in my hand, my thumb stroking his skinthen his lips. I outline them, as they part ever so slightly. They close once again, and plant a small kiss on the tip of my thumb, and shivers are sent up and down my spine. Now the only sound heard is my breathing along with his. We are the same, breathing in and out, at peace with each others presence. I can sense that he too, is cherishing the moment, not wanted anything to change. But a wave comes over me, and tells me how much I need him at that moment. One would think that his touch would be more than enough, but it is not. Not wavering from his gaze, my mouth slowly floats towards his. They touch, and the world spins. I close my eyes tightly, not even daring to move for a few moments from his kiss. Oh, his kissHe moves first, sliding his hand around my waist, finally reaching my lower back. He pushes me further into his kiss, ever so gently. Our tongues meet easily, and only then do I wrap my arms around his neck, pushing his tongue further into my mouth. I still only hear our breathing, however mine has turned shallow and sharp, and his is the same. We move as one, our lips and tongues dancing off each other, our arms and legs wrapping around each others limbs. I open my eyes, and sharply take my mouth from his, breathing heavily. Our faces are less than inches apart, and we take in the sound of our own heavy breathless panting. After a moment, his lips bend down and touch my neck, ever so slightly. I close my eyes, and relish in the feeling. For a split second, I remember what seemed like an eternity ago, when I was alone, in darkness, feeling a hand on my armthen I push the memory away, and take pure delight in the perfection of his lips upon my neck. He parts his lips, and slowly, ever so slowly, begins to move his tongue upand upuntil it reaches my own mouth once again. He takes his arm from around my back, and reaches for my hands. My fingers are intertwined with his, as I anticipate his kiss once again. But now, he closes his own lips, and plants a light, magical kiss on my lips, as Prince Charming would kiss his Cinderella. We part, and a smile easily comes to both of us. He begins to take one step backthen two, and then three. Our fingers linger together as long as possible, until finally they are pulled apart, and he begins to fade. I strain my eyes, not closing them for fear of losing sight. I love you a last whisper into the airit reaches my ears, and I finally close my eyes. The moments are over, only to become a memory. |
