Where You Are

By: Linz005

Who can say for certain
Maybe your still here
I feel you all around me
Your memory so clear
Deep in the stillness
I can hear you speak
You’re still an inspiration
Can it be
That you are mine
Forever love
And you are watching over me
From up above

Christian followed the procession to the cemetery. He couldn’t believe his beloved Satine was gone. He had held her lifeless body in her own arms. He crushed her against his chest, but it had done nothing. Christian couldn’t accept that she could no longer hear him. Life held little for him. He believed that whoever said that it was better to have loved and lost must have never tried. Christian lived in darkness. All the light and hope had vanished with her last gasp of breath. He clung to the idea that maybe she was still there. Maybe she wasn’t gone at all.

Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for a while
To know your there
A breath a way’s not far
To where you are

To where you are. That’s what he wanted more than anything. He wanted to be with her nothing mattered anymore everything wonderful in his life could be traced back to her. Never had she loved nor had he. They were like children learning to live for the first time only to have that life ended so abruptly. Christian couldn’t take it anymore. He just wanted there to be a release from the pain living caused him. He walked over to his dresser and reached for his razor. The light refracted off the cold steel and he ran it sharply over his wrist.

I am gently sleeping
Here inside my dream
And isn’t faith believing
All power can’t be seen
As my heart holds you
Just one beat away
I cherish all you gave me
Everyday

After he had cut his left wrist he could not bring himself to cut the other one. Satine would not have wanted him to end it all. She would have wanted him to live everyday of his life that he had ahead of him. He ran to the bathroom and searched for a towel. He pressed it firmly against the gash he had made in his wrist. Christian tried to get the bleeding to subside, but it continued to flow rapidly until he grew light-headed and lost consciousness.

And I believe
That angels breathe
And that love
Will live on
And never leave

He saw her from the moment he closed his deep eyes until he opened them again. Satine’s hair shined and her eyes sparkled. Christian had renewed hope in everything around him. She was still with him. She was in his heart no matter what happened. Satine was his even if the rest of the world no longer held her or saw her. He was with her and she with him.

Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for a while to know
Your there
A breath a way’s not far
To where you are
I know you there
A breath a way’s not far
To where you are
