Losing Grip

By: Linz005

Are you aware of what
You make me feel, baby
Right now I feel invisible
Like I’m not real
Didn’t you feel me lock
My arms around you
Why’d you turn away
Hear what I have to say

Mandy stood in the ally in the dark watching Curt walk away into the dark. She doubted that the one problem in her life was really leaving. She loved Curt, but she loved Brian more. She knew he felt no where near the same and maybe something needed to be done, but she hated to think of it. She saw him at the window, but he only glared.

“Brian?” She said once she was safely inside.

I was left to cry there
Waiting outside there
Grinning with the lost stare

That’s when I decided

Brian didn’t answer. He only slammed the door in response.
Shannon ran over to Mandy demanding that she leave Brian alone.

Dammit,
Shannon! He had to face reality sometime. His wife needs to speak with him now!” She shouted, but Shannon just laughed. Mandy grew indignant and was ready to burst. “You weren’t laughing that day you saw Brian and Curt together!” She yelled after an exiting Shannon.

And Mandy was left staring at the empty hall.

Why should I care
Cause you weren’t there
When I was scared
I was so alone
You need to listen
I’m starting’ to trip
I’m losing my grip
And I’m in this thing alone

Mandy had a new resolve the next morning having been treated in such a manner. Brian, or rather the illusion of Brian, was gone. Her dreams were shattered and she was ready to take care of herself. She became her own caretaker, an independent woman who was packing her own bags.

Am I just some chick

You placed beside you
To take somebody’s place
When you turn around
Can you recognize my face
You used to love me
You used to hug me
But that wasn’t the case
Everything wasn’t ok…

When she was all packed, it was time to confront Brian. “Brian I have to leave. I can’t take it anymore. I’m always the one left standing alone, but now I’m the one leaving you. You don’t love me anymore. Hey, maybe you never did…”

“Mandy.”

No, I can’t cry anymore. At least, I can’t cry for someone who doesn’t care.” She turned to leave.

I was left to cry there
Waiting outside there
Grinning with the lost stare
That’s when I decided

“Mandy, I need you.”

“No. You don’t. You want me to be your consolation prize for losing Curt. I ain’t nobody’s consolation prize. I won’t be yours, darling.” She walked out the door with no intention of returning. She left Brian alone for the first time in a long while.

Why should I care
Cause you weren’t there
When I was scared
I was so alone
You need to listen
I’m starting to trip
I’m losing my grip
And I’m in this thing alone

Mandy was ready to get on with her new life and she was ready to start over on her own. In truth it felt as if she had been on her own now for quite sometime. Mandy wanted and needed a person who would be there for her, not someone like Brian. She wanted and needed to leave her mark on the world.

Crying out loud
I’m crying out loud
Crying out loud
I’m crying out loud
Open your eyes

Open wide
