Latest Project is the Restoration of the "Grotta de Marie" Objects: two door gate, single gate, two section fence and entrance gate of the grotto, including new design of a top cross on the grotto. The restoration of the 100 year old metal work included the rebuilding of the locks, new forging and exchanging of the rusted away sections, sandblasting, spray zinc galvanizing and repainting of all the metal work with a graphite paint to lend long term protection. Of special interest was the cast lead ornaments at the fences. The highlight of this commission was the design of a cross on top of the grotto. The new cross design was influenced by the filigree metalwork of the gates which guided me to the final design of a cross. Starting out solid on its base, it splits up into 8 small forged pieces rising towards the sky. |
