| Friday, September 22, 2006 The Dallas News Tomlin and Thomasons take on Dallas (article added 9/23/06) By Alan Peppard The pieces are beginning to come together on why Hillary and Bill Clinton's TV pals Harry Thomason and Linda Bloodworth-Thomason have had crews scouting Dallas locations by helicopter and why actresses Lily Tomlin and Mary Kay Place are in town. Linda has penned a TV pilot in which Lily Tomlin is to play the matriarch of a ranching and-or real estate family. Mary Kay will co-star. Look for something acerbic. The tentative title is "12 Miles of Bad Road." Eastwood makes their day Wednesday night, to get the flavor of Dallas, Ms. Tomlin and Ms. Place mingled with the 96 donors who have given at least $1 million to the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts. The guest of honor was Clint Eastwood. He and his wife, Dina, flew in for the donor party on the second floor of the W Hotel hosted by Sarah and Ross Perot, Jr. The Eastwoods communed with American Airlines Chairman and CEO Gerard Arpey and his wife, Lisa; car dealer Carl Sewell and his wife, Peggy; oilman Frank Pitts; philanthropist Margaret McDermott; and investor brothers Burk and Robert Murchison (sons of Dallas Cowboys founder Clint Murchison) and their wives, Elise and Maggie. Performing arts center chairman Howard Hallam kicked off the event by asking Clint to introduce him to Hilary Swank. Eastwood leaves his sign Clint Eastwood didn't depart Dallas last week without leaving his mark at the W Hotel. After a reception at the W for the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts, Clint ascended to the Ghostbar with his wife, Dina, actresses Lily Tomlin and Mary Kay Place, and their hosts, Sarah and Ross Perot, Jr. The celebs all engaged in a Ghostbar tradition by autographing the chiller in the nightclub's kitchen. September 19, 2006 The National Ledger THE VIDEOLAND VIEW: (Article added September 23, 2006) By Marilyn Beck and Stacy Jenel Smith Looks like Lily Tomlin and Mary Kay Place are going to be involved in the forthcoming HBO series, "12 Miles of Bad Road," from writer-producers Harry Thomason and Linda Bloodworth-Thomason. We also get word that casting is underway for a Dallas businessman character with a personality reminiscent of Ted Turner, and for his curvaceous, sexually insatiable fiance. The drama turns on a rich, larger-than-life Texas real-estate family, the Shakespeares.
