I remember when I was about 14 or 15, my mother and dad took a couple of my friends and myself to see Elvis Presley live. He was just getting his career started, and he was performing in small cities and towns in the South.
During the performance there was a lady sitting not far from us. She was VERY PREGNANT, and she was screaming and crying over this guy "Elvis". I started watching herI couldn't figure out how come she was carrying on so. The next thing I knew, she fainted!!
I was shocked and, I guess, scared, and I also thought, "This lady is nuts!" To me, back then, I thought Elvis was just "pretty good"not so fabulous that I would faint over him! He began to become more and more popular and became a "REELY BEEG STAR", as Ed Sullivan would say when Elvis would perform on his show.
Well, as we all know, he became "The King". When I saw him perform in Las Vegas in the early 70's, he looked so handsome and his performance was fabulous; I was impressed! And I didn't faint. I clapped real hard and said, "Whoo! Whoo!" a lotout loud, too. He was so cool.
