Exploration Charts - Rules

Back to the WoT Files Section

On rolling any doubles, triples, quadruples etc when calculating income, something interesting has happened to your warband. To find out exactly what that is, consult the exploration charts provided. There are three separate exploration charts; which one you use depends on which warband you are playing as (this represents how unlikely Aes Sedai are to find themselves in the same situations as Shadowspawn between games). Consult the following text to decide which chart your warband uses.

Some warbands appear in more than one chart. If this is the case, then you are playing a warband whose motivations are not entirely clear, or who has a tendency to have a great deal of variation within the one organization. The Asha'man provide a prime example: those who follow Rand would be considered good, whereas those who followed Dashiva were most certainly evil. In these cases, when you first decide to play a warband that has access to more than one exploration chart, choose which one best fits your motivations (are you playing good Asha'man or evil Asha'man?), and note down that exploration chart on your warband roster. You may not change exploration charts during a campaign - you must use the same chart after each battle.

The Aes Sedai exploration chart is only a slightly modified version of the good exploration chart. The former suits warbands consisting purely of Aes Sedai, whereas the latter could be used for warbands that also include Warders. As usual, the decision is left up to the controlling player.

Good Exploration Chart: Aes Sedai, Asha'man, Borderlanders, Dragonsworn, Legionmen, Nobles’ Armsmen, National Forces, Two Rivers and Whitecloaks.

Evil Exploration Chart: Aiel, Asha'man, Darkfriends, Dragonsworn and Shadowspawn.

Invaders Exploration Chart: Aiel and Seanchan.

Aes Sedai Exploration Chart: Aes Sedai only.

Note: if the exploration options provided above do not suit your particular campaign (perhaps you are playing in the Waste, where the Aiel are not invaders), players should feel free to choose exploration charts not ordinarily allowed to their warband. However, this should only be done on discussion with your gaming group, and with compelling background reasons.
