Update (5/12/05):Since I'm still not allowed to wear this costume and I don't have a dressform, I still don't have good pictures of this costume. That's besides the fact that it's unfinished. I did take some pictures of the bodice the other day, but they don't really show how it works exactly. I've also been putting together all my research on this costume for the Costumer's Guide. In the bad news department, the breeches I had dyed have been lost. I lent them to the former costume mistress (I'm in charge now) at my school foa show last fall and they have since dissappeared.

I have now dyed my mom's old white fencing knickers brown. I cannot find a good full length shot of this costume, but I believe that on the bottom, Guinevere is wearing breeches, patched-together skirt, and assorted belts.

Since I first started to see preview pictures of this movie and costume, I have been very tempted to make it. That is if I ever learned to work with leather and was daring enough to show so much skin, albeit painted blue. When I finally saw the movie, that clinched it for me. I was going to make this costume even if my father never lets me wear it. I actually began the same day I saw the film, using leftover faux suede from my shieldmaiden bodice as a subsitute for the leather. Two weeks later, I now have an entirely hand-sewn basic bodice for this costume, to which I can add extra leatther work just whenever. It fits very tightly and I have to lace it up, then pull over my head and tighten in order to get it on by myself. The only other option would be to make my mother lace it up, which I'm not quite so comfortable with.

Gross Fun Fact (And a reason never to borrow this particular costume from me): During construction - since I was handsewing - I pricked all my fingers too many times to count and wiped the blood on the bodice since it is supposed to be worn in battle and should therefor be authentically bloodstained. :)
