Unfortunately I've misplaced the better photo. but one day on a bush trek we came upon this old camp site. He had built walls, perhaps two feet high, using sardine and neat tims filled with dirt. After a few rows of tins he would put a layer of flattened kerosean cans. The back wall, as seen here, was the fireplace and chimeny. The front was probably open. Now, you are probably thinking that wall 2-feet high don't offer much protection.
Old Miner's Camp near Kalgoorlie
Well, it didn't The miner's would put up a canvas tent...leaving a gap betten the tent and the tin walls...for air to circulate. When we first found the old camp, it was more intact. Unfortunately, I only had a couple of shot left in my camera. When we returned a few weeks later, vandlas had found the camp and destroyed the walls, as show in the photo. What a loss to history!.
